For those who have tried multiple apps, it would more helpful to others if you also mentioned WHY the certain app is your favorite. Is there some unique feature you really like or something else that sets it apart from all the others.

Personally I've only used Voyager. It seems to have everything I need but I cannot really call it my favorite as I haven't tried any others.

I mostly use sync, even though I am not in love with it. I also have connect. Which I think is foss. Been thinking about trying a new app to see if it hits better.

Tried almost all of them on iOS, but sticking with Arctic. The dev makes constant updates and responds to user feedback fast.

How is Jerboa these days? I used it during the Great Reddit Exodus days, but it was buggy as shit lol

I'm still using jerboa, I really like how simple it is.

but I haven't tried the others because when I joined there weren't really any others, so I'm not sure if I can call it my favorite?

jerboa is my favorite so far.

I mostly use Eternity.

Thunder on Android is great.

Thunder and Jerboa atm.

Just WebUI. I prefer landscape mode, so this fits me well.

I hate typing in portrait mode, and landscape also fits eye vision better. Plus tabs work far better than switching apps. I wish it could be more desktop like. Really, KDE Plasma + Wayland + maliit-keyboard would be nice combo to have on a phone. That's what I use on my 2-in-1.

But anyway, Android could at least have proper taskbar. I mean, I have this in 3-button navigation, surely it could fit more icons for background apps (assuming it wouldn't ~~kill~~ optimize them):

Yes, the text, it's a Ulefone. There's far worse bugs.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 days ago

Lol something about the image you linked is crashing Boost

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

A ulefone user?!! Wow

I was using the Ulefone Vienna in 2016-2020, before I went to a xiaomi mi 10. Can't say that it was the best phone (took me really long to figure put how to root android 6 when kingoroot didnt work anymore), but had somewhat decent specs, epsecially for its price (~120€ lol).

Armor 24. Not many options when you want a huge (not just large) battery (85.14Wh - 22Ah @ 3.87V), manual band-mode selection (also available on some Motorola devices), headphone jack and MicroSD card slot.

Oh, there's also a separate programmable button. I've set it to:
Single-click: Open Termux (terminal emulator)
Double-click: Open Audio recorder
Long-press: Toggle regular (weak) flashlight

Haha ulefone has some unique configurations:)

I think I prefer it that they took that path, at least they offer something interesting (would be way cooler if they used snapdragon cpus, but ok).😄

Wait, armor 24? A relative of mine had a ulefone armor in 2016, maybe armor 4 or 5 or 6, huh, time flies (at that time the fancy thing that phone had was probably the slightly bigger than average battery).

Edit: They had a ulefone power, not an armor, now I remembered:)

I specifically looked for MediaTek since that band mode selector is part of their software, MediaTek Engineer Mode. Most manufacturers remove it because there's things you probably shouldn't play around with, but smaller manufacturers just leave it there. Some of these MTK phones in the past even let you change IMEI with AT commands in it (without root), I don't know if that's still available at least on some phones.

I've been using Sync since I made the switch after Reddit closed down 3rd party apps. I signed up to get Boost when they released it but never actually tried it out.

Is this /c/asklemmyapps?

(just kidding, but the same question got asked 6 hours ago)

[–] [email protected] 26 points 5 days ago (2 children)

I tried a few, but Boost definitely does it for me. The look and feel is just right, and blocking communities and instances is only a click away. Really enjoying it

Back when it was still working, I was using Sync for reddit so now that I'm on Lemmy, I've been using this. Haven't really tried other apps to be honest

Eternity, I just wish it was updated more frequently.

Edit: I can't spell.
