Welcome to Lemmy.fan!

This instance succeeds on one simple mantra: Be kind, and do unto others as you have done to yourself. Consider for a moment that we're ALL on the the same rapidly-spinning, mostly-watery orb, hurtling through space at fantastic speeds, and trading metal and paper for our livelihoods. The unknown will always dwarf the known. Learning never ends. We may be experts in something, but no one person is an expert in all things.

Given that, here our are very simple

Rules

Facts based in reality and science are not debatable.

Opinions are great, just be ready to back yours up with a solid foundation of factual information and/or research.

No NSFW communities are allowed to be created on this instance.

Community creation is encouraged so long as it is actively moderated.

Donations are not being accepted or expected. This rule may change IF the instance grows beyond current capacity. Please enjoy an ad-free, donation-free social media experience.

Lastly, negative behaviors such as trolling, harassment, stalking, brigading, and other offensive behaviors as judged by the instance admin(s) will not be tolerated. Immediate and permanent bans are issued for spammers, trollers, vote brigaders, stalkers, harassers, and those of similar ilk. All decisions will be made by the instance admin(s). Those decisions are final and incontestable.

That's the end of the boring but necessary stuff.

The 59-page ruling from district court Judge Jason Marks found that Senate Bill 99, backed by Republicans largely along party lines during the legislative session two years ago, violates the Montana Constitution’s rights to privacy, equal protection and free speech.

The law had been temporarily enjoined before it was scheduled to take effect. The Montana Supreme Court upheld that block in 2024.

The court found that plaintiffs, including transgender teen Phoebe Cross and other minor patients, their parents and medical providers, successfully presented evidence that the law undermines their constitutional rights by curbing access to medical treatments for gender dysphoria, such as puberty blockers and hormones.

The waste, which came in 10 large containers, was declared as mixed metal scrap but turned out to be circuit boards mixed in a huge pile of metal scrap, said Theeraj Athanavanich, director-general of the Customs Department.

The waste was found on Tuesday after the containers became the subject of a routine random inspection, officials said.

A U.N. report last year said electronic waste is piling up worldwide. Some 62 million tons of electronic waste was generated in 2022 and that figure is on track to reach 82 million tons by 2030, the report said. It said only 22% of the waste was properly collected and recycled in 2022 and that quantity is expected to fall to 20% by the end of the decade due to higher consumption, limited repair options, shorter product life cycles, and inadequate management infrastructure.

The "problem" is that wind, solar, and batteries for overnight storage can now outcompete fossil fuel generation on price, which means that the patrons who back the Republican party stand to lose a lot of money.

Just under 3000-4000 people are required per country in Lithuania, Latvia, Malta and Luxembourg. Come on now... that's a small town and in some places even just a village. Are there really that few gamers in those countries?

I was discussing this on another post and when we're doing internet searches for any kind of information I feel we should be discussing that on the Fediverse or bringing back the info to the Fediverse.

But some folks brought up some excellent points that Kagi has a Fediverse bang.

I run SearxNG and asked in their Matrix channel: https://matrix.to/#/#searxng:matrix.org

possiblemeatball pointed out that SearxNG also has a Fediverse !bang . If you go to Preferences - Engines - Social media there are bangs for lemmy comments, lemmy communites, mastodon hashtags, etc. We need to be leveraging this!

What other search engines foster the Fediverse?

I was just pointed to https://fedi-search.com/ which seems awesome, but I haven't leveraged YET!

I'm starting a NonProfit Fediverse powered business called BT Free. I was thinking of making my homepage built on Ghost, but due to some of it's choices, I'm looking for something else.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a self hosted, possibly fediverse powered, software for creating a simple clean efficient business website landing page that explains who we are, what we're doing, etc. I am NOT a designer so something with templates or can hold my hand would be wildly helpful.

I was thinking maybe a static site generator maybe?

Anyone have ANY thoughts or suggestions? Remember there are no such things as bad ideas or comments!
