I always hear how awful Hexbear is, but rarely see anything awful on there.

I see many awful comments on .world.

honestly idk why dbzero isn't part of the tankie triad. They have just as many insane takes and they're crawling with either tankie alts or sympathizers who think they deserve to consume other people's work for free. It's hell because unlike the triad, no one seems to really defederate from them despite their unapologetically alt-left views.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

And this right here is why anyone remotely on the left should be pushing back against this "tankie" nonsense, because if .ml gets defederated, dbzero will be the new tankies (even though it's an anarchist instance lmao) and if they get defederated, who knows, maybe it'll be .ee next, and so on until you can't say, "I'm voting democrat, but it kinda seems like Biden's in poor health" without getting called a tankie (though I'm pretty sure that already happened lol).

We're basically the tanks (lmao) pulling aggro away from more moderate leftists.

  1. If db0 was added to the tankie triad it wouldn’t be a triad anymore

  2. db0 is an anarchist not a communist. Lemmy world has some tankie users too, but it’s clearly moderated to be a liberal instance and that’s why the majority of users there are liberal. .ml has plenty of liberal users too, but it’s still tankie. The tankie triad is based on the admins, not users

dbzer0 is anti-copyright and anarchist.

sure if you’re a capitalist that might seem weird.

But it’s not like they are denying genocides and simping for mass murderers à la Hexbear or Lemmygrad.

(Being anarchist makes them pretty much the opposite of the authoritarian leninism popular in Grad and Hexbear. That doesn’t mean there aren’t some Leninists on dbzer0, but they aren’t the demographic the server is catering to)

[–] [email protected] 10 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

The main thing with db0 as opposed to other instances is that it:

a) also caters to another crowd (FOSS enthusiasts)

b) doesn't suffer (at least from whay I've seen) from censorship problems. Db0, the owner, isn't auth far left (tankie) but anarchist and seems pretty reasonable.

c) Actually has a sign-up process (which means fewer people choose it)

d) Has a lot of big comms in software due to early arrival and not doing stupid things.

I myself have an acc there, mostly due to foss interest.

Probably Lemmy world or shit just works.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

Hexbear because it's not only part of the tanky triad, it's also the most annoying of the tanky triad. They make .ML and Lemmygrad seem like reasonable adults with their childish "I'm 14 and this is deep" way of speaking and use of Twitch emotes.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 17 hours ago

lemmygrad, hexbear, lemmy.ml, and (the now defunct) exploding-heads, all put in a blender and make a server out of it

It'd be epic!

[–] [email protected] 9 points 21 hours ago

Each person's hell is unique and personalized just to them. Lemmy already has this ability to create your own hell built into its core design philosophy. Hell is whatever you make it.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 21 hours ago

Lemmygrad or hexbear

[–] [email protected] 4 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago)

Probably any instance where they would go.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 22 hours ago

One that is blocked everywhere and has nothing locally but tankies and furry nazis in conversation about American politics despite nobody living there.

My own personal Lemmy hell would be any community that ends with "memes". As soon as I see a new one it gets blocked. Not for me.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 22 hours ago

Welcome to Meme Meme Memes!

Where we post memes about memes that make fun of memes!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

You know those jokes about how people already in hell don't know that they're in hell? Relevant.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 22 hours ago

Oh. We know.

"go to heaven for the climate, hell for the company"

sickubus

[–] [email protected] 3 points 23 hours ago

Certainly an .ml instance

[–] [email protected] 65 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

Why does it need to be centralized? We are on the fediverse after all. Everyone gets their little slice of hell!

[–] [email protected] 20 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

Technically, there's nine instances of hell and one instance of limbo.

At least that's what my friend Dante told me.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 hours ago

i thought there were two canon limbos.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

And they are federated with each other, and defederated with all other instances.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 17 hours ago

I thought traitors.hell was still federated with the real world? Or did misunderstand the documentation that Dante wrote up?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

Can i block other hell instances?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 hours ago

Piefed allows you to actually block other instances rather than hide them like Lemmy does

[–] [email protected] 7 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Yes, but they can still see your content and comment on it within their own pits/burning lakes/etc., so they spend all day long mocking you and talking about you behind your back where you can't see but you still know they're doing it.

That's part of what makes them hell.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Ah, so this is where the mystery downvotes come from on posts which have nothing in them to downvote at all!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago) (2 children)

You get those, too? I guess it's nice to know sometimes that whatever you're doing has pissed off the gibbering hordes of the damned; it means you are annoying the right people.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 22 hours ago

I've always assumes they were just accidents, I know I've accidentally downvoted things scrolling on my phone, I usually go back and undo it but I imagine I sometimes don't notice
