Everything he does is what dictators do. Somebody explain to me why America has collectively allowed him to run the country

What Contempt? The people who Defend The Constitution after a School Shooting that leaves SCORES of 6 Year Olds DEAD are FULLY on Board with this!
He’s 85…he’ll be lucky if he survives life until the end of this term.
There’s still an entire cult of people that will step up in his wake if he dies.
He is a symptom, not the cause.
Dictator for day 1
Special operation for 3 days
I'm beginning to think they don't understand time
HE has ALREADY done what dictators do. GAME OVER!
- Disappearing people with unwanted opinions without legal investigation.
- Have judges condone clearly illegal acts.
- Pardon already prosecuted and sentenced criminals because they gave the president money.
- Willfully destroy government institutions under the guise of fraud and cost savings, but never making clear where the money will go now.
- Accept bribes and claim its all legal.
- Allow bribery for those in his staff/judicial system.
- Use the justice apparatus to put pressure on and silence political enemies or those with unwanted opinions.
- Install an extra, and unmonitored, internet service in the White House.
- Declare war on allies.
- Covertly speak to centuries long enemies and prefer their opinion over your own intelligence agencies.
- Steal Top secret documents and distribute them to unknown international agents.
- Steal an election and declare no new voting is needed when he's in power.
- Start an Insurrection.
- Perform an illegal rugpull with crypto in your name and shrug it off.
- Threaten schools and educational institutions to only promote the official vision.
- Destroy the department of education so that only propaganda will be taught in schools
- Destroy Healthcare and Social Security, making it harder for the common man to rise up.
- Declare it illegal/terrorism if protests arise against one of his inner circle.
- Shout that whatever he does is for the country, but none of his actions actually benefit anyone else besides his own interests.
Yup, it all fits the bill.
Its not game over, not by a long shot. Its not even game over if the fascists solidify their rule. There will always be dissidence and rebellion. If you're feeling like we're not doing enough right now you aren't involved with the right groups. There are people.setting things in motion against these all over the country. Let's shake these AI blues and start rebuilding our faith in each other and our communities. Fascists are only strong when the people are isolated.
It's refreshing seeing optimism. Thanks for that.
I like this comment, and your optimism. You’re right about atomization of the individual, that’s how they keep us ineffectual. Seek out the similars and organize to take action!
Just this huh not the…. points at dozens of examples of what dictators do
So Obama can run against him then?
No, the bill presented by GOP congress excludes any president that served two consecutive terms.
So currently, the only person on the planet that can serve a third term is trump.
Well, trump wouldn't be elected into position - that is explicitly prohibited. So no running for him or Obama.
The "loophole" is that he's trying to line up a coordinated effort to elect other GOP members. After elected they'll nominate trump into the line of succession as Secretary of State or another unelected position. Once the pawns are in place, the line of succession simply has to step down until it falls to him. Third term without breaking the "elected twice to office" condition.
This "loophole" wouldn't work. There are plenty of people in the line of succession that are ineligible to be President either due to being too young or being foreign-born. First, if it gets to the point where one of them would even become President, we have much bigger problems to worry about. Second, those people that would be ineligible would simply be skipped over for the next person in line who's actually eligible.
Sure, they could use the same backwards logic and hand-waving of Constitutional amendments that they've been using all along, but at that point they might as well just make an exception for the 22nd amendment and call it a day. If they're just planning to hand-wave away the rules anyway, why go through all those extra steps when just saying that the 22nd amendment is unenforceable would be quicker, easier, and accomplish the same thing?
IMO this is just to test the base and get them used to him stay in the office until he dies then someone from his family takes over or maybe musk himself.
The goal is a dictatorship and if there will be an election it will be a sham one line putin has.
I agree it would be a temporary measure. Realistically Republicans only need ~6 more governors on board before they can start talking constitutional amendments, and do away with these pesky restrictions all together.
Of course not, the two cases are totally different. They're so different, it's like black and white....
“White”
This is... The most accurate
They're so different that if he tries he will be shot, either through official order or some frothing at the mouth maniac.
I predict that there will be no consequences.
At this point we are the only consequence he can get. Congress refuses to act, courts do, but he started to ignore them, institutions are gutted.
This unfortunately won't end without us going on the streets.
