Another Trumper full of regret.

https://gothamist.com/news/why-many-asian-american-trump-voters-chose-zohran-mamdani-in-nycs-primary

"I liked his policies, mainly his support for education and affordable housing, said Shirley Wong, 70, of Bensonhurst, referring to Mamdani. "He seems to listen to us."

But less than a year ago, Wong cast her ballot for Trump. She cited the influx of migrants in her neighborhood, as well as the cost of living under President Joe Biden. But now, Wong said she regretted voting for Trump, citing the Big Beautiful Bill's projected cuts to Medicaid

Please note that the first paragraph in the screenshot does not refer to Trump. It's still a Leopard eats my face moment, but not sure to the affordable housing stuff.

I prefer the corpse to the mongoloid republican voter voting against ALL of our self interests.

Rest in piss maga moron.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 13 hours ago

Bensonhurst has always been a heavily immigrant area - now it’s Asians, before it was Italians and former ussr. It’s kind of weird that she has a problem with it….

Right wing voters would rather vote for a communist than a moderate liberal.

Take notes, Democrats. If you want to steal the right vote, run socialists

[–] [email protected] 0 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Its important to put into perspective that your Democratic party would be considered center-right where I live.

They're not left wing by any means, and that's exactly what you're seeing now with Mamdami being shunned by his own fellow democrats.

Your dual party status quo is precisely designed to avoid having a true left wing. The existence of the Republicans forces you to vote for center-right candidates, meaning you never get the chance to develop truly left wing policies.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Nah, that's fake. The point of the Democrats isn't for the center right party to win. It's for the center right party to lose. Being center right is just a means to the end of losing. Because no matter how right wing they are, they won't be able to do as much damage as the neo Nazi party. And that's what the point is.

They're only shunning Mamdani performatively. It's sin signalling. They're doing it to be hated. They might win New York, and that's an acceptable sacrifice if it helps them lose the rest of the country.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Nah, that's fake

The party is freaking out over a candidate I would call center-left and nobody in my entire country would find abnormal in any election.

Isn't for the center right party to win. It's for the center right party to lose.

The democrats ARE the center right party. You don't have anything to the left of that. Republicans aren't "center right".

[–] [email protected] 0 points 10 hours ago

Well thank you for agreeing with me.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 13 hours ago

It's why right media has to demonize socialism; they don't want people to vote for it.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

An alarming number of Americans (and people around the world) just vote on vibes. That's the only way you can explain voting for a fascist one election and immediately pivoting to a democratic socialist.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 14 hours ago

An alarming number of Americans (and people around the world) just vote on vibes

And looks.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 20 hours ago (3 children)

This is true, but I have a better explanation for this case: people hate centrists.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 13 hours ago

People did vote for centrism in droves a generation ago. It just happens that the system currently is no longer benefiting the voting public, so they voting public will vote for change.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 13 hours ago

It's even worse than that. Very, very few people are actually centrists. Like, .1% of the population are probably true moderates.

The parties are coalitions representing people of varied opinions. And people rarely agree with the parties on every issue. But most people fall generally on one side or the other. However, some folks end up highly misaligned to the party issue assignments. For example, what party is the natural home for a militantly homophobic militant atheist? They think both priests and gay people should be sent to reeducation camps. Where do they belong?Neither party really. This person would consider themselves a centrist, even though they have nutjob fringe views from both the right and left. This is an extreme example, but it illustrates what most centrists actually are. They're not lobotomized zombies with no passion or beliefs. They have strong beliefs that simply don't align with the party coalitions.

But this reality is not how "centrist" politicians govern. Instead they try to place themselves at the exact center of every issue. Very very few human beings actually think that way. So they inevitably come across as highly inauthentic. People believe in things. If you try to walk the dead middle, you're telling people you believe in nothing. You become a living example of the uncanny valley. And people feel gross just listening to you.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 14 hours ago

Combining the two: centrists have bad vibes because they always have an authenticity problem. They position themselves against change, but then happily go where the Overton window takes them (see Biden's outgoing border bill). They are for nothing except what they think is popular at the moment, which is usually out of date information, and that comes across as fake and focused on accumulating power rather than solving problems. You don't need to be a policy wonk to see that centrists will say anything to get your vote and do nothing to solve your problems

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

So she voted for the Wong candidate and now regrets it. Cry me a fuckin river.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Shirley is a stupid cunt and a racist. I'll happily support her voting for Mamdani, but she's still a piece of shit and I hope she knows it and it haunts her. It doesn't, but I wish it did.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago (2 children)

This sounds like someone learning. It’s incredibly hard to admit you were wrong and do better. Don’t shame her for it.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 21 hours ago

It’s not hard to admit you’re wrong, unless you’re overly prideful.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago (2 children)

She hasn't learned anything. She discovered that her vote is now going to affect her. If it weren't specifically for the Medicaid cuts, she wouldn't be showing any remorse and would still be hoping Trump will take care of her brown person problem. She hasn't admitted that she was wrong, she's finding out that actions have consequences.

Fuck her. She deserves to be shamed just like every other Trump voter. Remember when being pro Nazi got you in hot water because of the shame it brought? We need to get back to that.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 10 hours ago

Sure, if you want to give them a reason to double down again instead of coming around.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 22 hours ago (3 children)

Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I'm not pretending to be a saint, but my moral compass is better than Shirley's, and I know that from the couple of sentences she said publicly. Also, God's fake and sins are a bullshit social construct. I throw as many metaphorical stones at stupid cunts that I want.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 11 hours ago

It's a reference to a silly story where the lesson is to not be a judgemental shithead just because someone else fucked up.

Yeah it's the bible. I don't care if God is real or not, nor your opinion on it. I also use references from the writings of Vonnegutt, the music Dolly Parton, and 90s anime.

Because you can get moral lessons from fiction. We do it all the time. My reference isn't even that deep. But somehow the ten word literary cudgel I bludgeoned you with still didn't make the point. It's a cautionary statement.

You are acting like the crowd of shitheals that wanted to stone a woman to death, just like in the biblical story. That's not a good look nor is it a good indication of your 'moral compass'. Sorry I thought you could infer that from my one sentence quote from a very well distributed piece of literature.

Unfortunately, Jesus came back two weeks ago, but he was apprehended and died yesterday in a Salvadoran torture camp.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 22 hours ago

I got lots of rocks and didn't vote for the orange piece of trash. Careful what you wish for...

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Edit: this picture is getting so much mileage this year.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Mamdani LITERALLY converts Trump voters into non-trump-voters.

Of COURSE the democrat party hates him; he exposes their grift and gets their prey to pay attention!

[–] [email protected] 0 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

He's ruining their plan to lose on purpose

[–] [email protected] 0 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (1 children)

Precisely. They figured out how to rake in billions of dollars through losing elections. All the money they raise, poof: gone! Gone to "strategists" and "consultants" and "advertising agencies" and all manner of other bullshit that are just legitimate-sounding names for fences who launder the money for them.

It's like the plot of The Producers:
"you can make more money with a flop than a hit!"

[–] [email protected] 0 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

Chuck Schumer is Bloom and Nancy Pelosi is Bialystock.

Edit: recast

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

Zohran keeps things on policy, which is the only arena the personality cult and party faithful can't go.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

"Imma vote for this dude bc he's gonna get rid of all of the people I hate.

[scary thought]

He won't come for me, bc I'm better than those people."

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

"I like his policies, but..." gestures at brown people

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

at least she's realized and admits her mistake and changed her voting patterns. a huge portion will never have that self-awareness

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

Did she? She voted based on racism. Nothing she's complaining about suggests she shifted on that.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

I predict she will still vote Republican the next go around for similar stupid reasons.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago (2 children)

She didnt do that though. She voted for a cunt promising to cut shit she needed and then didnt change her mind until the exact thing she needs was cut. Thats not really learning in the way you need to learn to have a functioning society. Its still narcissism and individualism.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

maybe my standards are just lower now because I still see idiots cheering trump as he is literally killing them and stealing their money so long as they think he is "owning the libs"

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Trump promised he wouldn't cut Medicaid. The thing you should fault her with is that she still didn't get that Trump lies about everything after demonstrating that for his entire public life and an entire presidential administration.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What support for education is this lady hallucinating about?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

she's talking about mamdani not Trump here

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

Lol whoops. Thank you

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

She’ll regret it even more when ICE snatches her up.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It doesn’t matter to me until it directly affects me.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

The official motto of the American voter.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago (2 children)
[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

We should be allowed to try. Maybe one night a year? For like 12 hours?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

You can beat them, but they still won't learn.
