The pathetic desperation in this cry for help is palpable, and delightful.

There wasn't a problem until you caused one, Dipshit Donny. Now you're locked out and clawing at the door.

“Closed markets don’t work anymore” says the guy using tariffs to artificially close off the access to the world’s markets.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They've crippled most nonprofits and small corporations. Mission accomplished. They'll use the windfall from a new free trade agreement to snap up market share and assets. And about 100 years later, rinse and repeat.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Shit happens every 6 or 7 years like clockwork. Weird, huh?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (1 children)

yeah, but they fucked up this time. This isn't a 6 or 7 year fuckery of reclaiming some of the market back from people who sold their 401ks.

This is a collapse of 80+ years of building our reputation and trade agreements with allies that he's destroyed.

Nothing like this has ever happened before. Nothing. Nobody has a playbook for what happens next, but it's not good.

Best case scenario our allies forgive us if/when trump is out of office, and we have to spend the next several decades convincing them the US won't flip flop on trade deals every 4 years. We'll very slowly claw our way back to the top of the world trade empire.

But that's if absolutely everything goes perfectly from here on out.

Which won't happen.

So things will get worse. Much worse.

But this is unprecedented. We are in for a very, very bad time, his bad decisions just haven't caught up and had an impact yet. Everyone's been trading on hype from what he's been saying/doing and anxiety of what to expect in a few months/years.

Nobody knows for sure, but come July, we're going to have a lot of empty shelves, and Q2/Q3/(Q4 especially) profits are going to drop like a rock. The market WILL tumble. And anyone still in it will be left holding the bag for the next few decades until it slowly recovers. Assuming we don't keep going down this shit path trump and his nazi traitors have us on. Because then it will just keep getting worse and we will not recover. The lows will be the new highs and we will become like Russia.

The Summer of Scarcity should be fun

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

He wants bilateral open markets ie some form of neoliberal apocalypse. For some reason he thinks this benefits the US, as if the world is tripping over itself to buy over priced mid quality American products.

The tariffs are simply a means to that end. From their perspective it's either no or equal tariffs both ways.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The world does buy a lot of intangibles from the US. Music, software, and service subscriptions come to mind.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

He clearly doesn't think those count. The trade "deficit" he whines about with Canada completely disappears when you factor in services US companies provide.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Services for sure. The US has a massive surplus with the rest of the world on services which intentionally doesn't get brought up because it doesn't fit the narrative.

Hopefully the world will move away from that though.

"CLOSED MARKETS DON’T WORK ANYMORE!!!"

There used to be a time delay of several years in these "Trump criticizes Trump" things. Are we still measuring time in Scaramouches?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago

Nah, I remember during his first presidency, it would sometimes be weeks lol. Checking out his Twitter posts was what finally convinced me Republicans are nowhere near the same as Democrats or that they are well intentioned politicians.

[–] [email protected] 51 points 1 day ago (3 children)

That depends, will you do the Fandango?

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Bukele No! He will not let you go!

Beelzebub shoved trade policy inside of me. Of meeee. Of MEEEEEEEEEEEE^EEEEEEE.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 19 hours ago

So you think you can buy from me and spit in my eye?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

Actually I will, but i realized i misspelled the dudes name.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 day ago (2 children)

But... he's just a poor boy...

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

No body lives him,

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 day ago

Still taken aback that we have to share in this life with this monstrosity.

[–] [email protected] 47 points 1 day ago (1 children)

China holds all of the cards. Any "trade deal" that comes of this is going to heavily favor China

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 day ago

maybe Trump should say thank you

[–] [email protected] 38 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The US is the one that caused China to ‘close its market’ to them. 🤦‍♂️

[–] [email protected] 49 points 1 day ago

For once China didn't do shit. Trump closed the US market all on his own and now that the entirely predictable outcome occurred (that he was warned about repeatedly before hand) he's throwing a tantrum and blaming everyone else (as he does).

[–] [email protected] 65 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The most embarrassment of a president in america's history. Not even the worst presidents before shitstain would have ever allowed things to sink this badly.

Shut up on your social media you big dumb fuck and answer to China's terms - roll back your stupid fucking tariffs that's fucking everyone over as we speak and attempt to at least sound like a big boy at the table.

[–] [email protected] 37 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

He was a disgrace in 2016, but it seems like he really turned it up a notch for this presidency. Speaks volumes about US citizens for electing this fool again, too.

[–] [email protected] 32 points 1 day ago (1 children)

71+ million idiots. Unbelievable. All over egg prices by the way. Which still aren't going down.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago

Prices only ever go up, except (wanted to write eggcept) for raw materials. Supply and demand is a lie.

[–] [email protected] 49 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mean him saluting an enemy North Korean general while Kim is there looking confused was pretty fucking bad too.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

That’s my personal favourite.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

Maybe we're not so different
