This is a place where tablets, even really low-end ones, are far superior. Hard to beat not having to zoom.

How does the drawing tablet work for FreeCAD? And is it one with or without a screen?

Curious on the use case.

I just picked up a 144hz USB-C 16" monitor with a magnetic cover like a tablet. Paired it with a mini tripod and designed/printed a magnetic bracket so the monitor just snaps on. Slides right into my tiny 13L pack (barely).

I'd bet, even if he doesn't say it, one of your father's biggest regrets is that you didn't have a stable location and set of friends. And if it's not, I'd suggest not bringing it up. Realizing that after all this years could be pretty traumatic.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Wait, I hope you don't think it's your fault that you opened up?

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 day ago

That's really rough. I hope you are doing OK and taking care of yourself.

Agree with other responder. End of October was.. Stressful. Way more for some than others. This might be one of those situations where trying an "Are you OK?" would be all that's needed to start mending.

I'll add one thing to other's responses. Make sure she, not they, but she is covered financially. If she spends 10 years with him, not developing her career, and he drops her, will she be OK?

I.E. its perfectly OK for them to have this arrangement, it's not OK for her to be in a situation where she feels trapped by money.

I never understood the idea of using the command numbers. Ctrl-R is just so much easier.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

This is a terrible argument, IMO. Domains are almost always auto renew, and there are typically grace periods.

Hi all,

Hoping someone can help me out here. I just did the upgrade, I've updated my ENV variables, and started, and I get:

2024-05-18T19:13:07.047224829Z 2024-05-18T19:13:07.046998Z  INFO migrate_04: pict_rs::repo::migrate: Running checks

I then proceed to get the following item for 110,670 files:

2024-05-18T19:13:08.196186995Z 2024-05-18T19:13:08.196036Z ERROR pict_rs::repo::migrate: Failed to migrate hash 0000181884f6a92c7f6ee411dc8049474b2872204fafebbc6b0170e7499d902b, skipping

And then pict-rs just exits.

Turning on debug gives me more info, but nothing helpful after each of the above errors:

Any idea how to get pict-rs started? Or what I should look to for figuring this out.

Edit: Scanning the logs more closely I see that I never get the Migration complete message from here https://git.asonix.dog/asonix/pict-rs/src/commit/d45e3fa386e62e0538b3d7ba399ceaec80fdd7ca/src/repo/migrate.rs#L175, but I do get percentage completes up to Migration 59% complete - 213698/362224. Nothing else indicates, though.

Dumb question, but new to cycling, and the person at the store adjusted the height of the back via the tab. The Trek manual and video are absolute garbage, so we can't figure out how. Can anyone help?

Edit

To provide some context given the messages below. I was a professional photographer, and understand that getting a good photo is a skill. Exposure time, timing, location, and many other factors come into play when capturing a great image.

Seeing the aurora was a fantastic experience. The purpose of this post is to help reduce FOMO of those who could not see it. Many people who don't know these things will imagine dancing lights in the sky of brilliance, and will be saddened by what they missed. While they did miss something, it's important for them to know exactly what they missed.

Edit2 I should also note this is why I enjoy when photographers post gear, conditions, and settings alongside results. It tells viewers what was real.

A long read for normal Lemmy posts, but well cited including a study on stress during pregnancy. The links to the studies do have statistics if you are interested in further reading.

It's not just what you'd expect, it includes things like algae blooms growing that release neurotoxins, etc.

Apart from blow up printers, the one scariest thing for me about a slicer is losing settings. You spend hours getting your printer dialed in, specific profiles per material and then..

You update your slicer software and it all goes away. I have now learned Cura does this. And does this a lot. Forum posts abound about it. Friends recommend I switch to Prusa because it happened to them. Unfortunately too late for me to write down my old settings, and they're apparently not in the ~/.config/cura folder anymore. Nice.

The more I think on this, the more I wonder if it's truly unpopular "here," but it certainly is in public.

Headlights should be no more than 2 feet off the ground. Yes, your SUV will look dumb. No, you won't be able to see as far. But you also won't be blinding everyone.

And no, adjusting angles does not solve this for monster trucks in the US.

I'll be creating one for GifYourGame, too.

To be clear, some really great community members have these names, but they're everywhere now. And with the right characters you can create some really annoying overlaps: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/3790

Enough of them floating around now that I'll probably do a PR for my favorite client to filter them out.
