I see AI generated art going down the same path as like mass-produced food products. Unhealthy, low quality, cheap, slop. But people still cook their own food, or go to eat what chefs make no matter how easy it is to buy a fast food meal or a bag of chips. Same way people still like to buy hand crafted items when they can over something made in a factory.

Just like how until recently a lot of people ate fast food without questioning it, but then suddenly a few decades ago a lot more people started caring about the health effects. I think we are in the period now where people don't think about the consequences of consuming so much AI stuff.

I think a lot of people in the west have just never actually struggled in their entire life. Like you'll ask them about their biggest struggle and they'll mention some shit like a test in school or whatever. Meanwhile there's people in the same country as them who like can't afford to eat everyday. Who sleep in sewer drains. For the ones who have had it easy, and just have the worst takes ever. It's very hard to not think they should actually suffer a bit, and that they'd probably be better people afterward if they did. So i totally get the feeling.

I had a boss who would just not pay me until i texted her and heavily implied if my money didnt show up soon i would be contacting the states labor board. I didn't get my last paycheck until like a month after i quit.

Yeah like having my food tray at lunch as a 9 year old ripped out of my hands and thrown in the trash in front of me because i couldn't pay, and being given a cheese sandwich so that when i walked out with it everyone would know my family can't afford to feed me. Even as a kid you know there is something fundamentally wrong with that.

I think it was like various things building on eachother. As i became educated in each area the contradictions led me to other areas until i got to a cohesive worldview.

I'm good at systems level thinking so all it took was one crack in the propaganda facade, and over time the rest of it came down too. Took me a few years tho to fully get there as i investigated different things, and educated myself. The first crack was just being born queer, and poor i gues.

How much do you know about the era prior to Russian intervention in Ukraine? As far as i understand it the Ukrainian backed neo-nazi groups were literally shelling ethnically Russian towns, and killing civilians long before Russia stepped in. So i don't think portraying this as a black, and white agressor vs defender situation is correct. Donetsk, and Luhansk were actively asking Russia to intervene.

Now do i think that is why Russia intervened? Because they are just super nice, and wanted to help? Fuck no. They did it for geopolitical reasons like anything else. To secure the historically single most effective corridor for invading Russia. That doesn't mean that context is irrelevant though.

This is also functionally a proxy war. It's the US vs Russia, but the US is using Ukraine as its manpower pool, and bullet sponge. Ukraine doesn't have the ability to defend itself like it's done alone. Even with western backing it's losing.

The war only happened because the US wanted it to happen. They played Russia, but it backfired on them. The US wanted Russia to come in, and get weakened by Ukraine. Didn't really care how much damage Ukraine took in the process. But Russia is arguably better off militarily today than it was before this war started. It's also strengthened the ties between China, and Russia since Russia relies on China to be its economic lifeline in spite of all the sanctions.

So to answer the question: Why critically support Russia?

Morally- Tie: Neither side is worth a damn. Ukrainian civilians and Russian civilians are both innocent, and leadership in both countries is irredeemably evil.

Strategically-Russia Wins: Russian victory weakens the US. Aids the long term goal of destroying US empire.

Pragmatically-Russia Wins: If Ukraine maintains its independence it will have a total lack of young people, destroyed infrastucture, and be economically insolvent. It will be turned into a resource extraction site for the west, and likely never recover. It's neo-nazi government will be backed by the US, and impossible to overthrow via domestic rebellion. Another war could happen at any time. Not just with Russia, but with Turkey, Poland, etc. If conditions arise to allow it. As Ukraine will still not have nukes, and will be weakened significantly.

If Russia wins Ukraine will be taken over, and become part of Russia. Economically they'll be better off. Likely with significant investment from both Russia, and China in rebuilding their infrastucture. Still used as a resource extraction site, but since manpower will be able to be brought in from the rest of Russia working conditions will likely be better. They'll now be under the Russian nuclear umbrella. So unless WW3 happens another war isn't likely. (Yeah WW3 isn't exactly unlikely, but yknow.) Ukraine also has significant wheat production. To the west this is kind of a meh thing. They have plenty of farmland in the US, and are more interested in minerals. But Russia/China would be quite interested in maintaining wheat output, and would not risk it just to get some minerals. Not just for their own use, but to keep nations like Egypt stable. So the international food supply markets are likely to be more stable in this situation. Which helps not just Ukrainians themselves via jobs, and investment, but anyone in a food insecure region too.

Anecdotally-Russia wins: Idk how much this matters to other people, but personally when it comes to foreign policy stuff I recognize that the info we as civilians have access to is limited. So i look to the positions of organizations i believe have similar long term goals to my own, communist orgs, and also have access to more information. Intelligence agencies, etc.

China: Officially neutral, but leans toward Russian support.

DPRK: Openly supports Russia.

Vietnam: Neutral, Abstains from UN votes about the conflict.

Cuba: Leans pro-Russia.

These have a clear trend. When 0 AES states are supporting the side of Ukraine that tells me all i need to know. The situation isn't black, and white clearly. But critical support for Russia is the choice that makes the most sense for me. Not that my random poor person trying to survive opinion does much of anything.

If your looking for one that would be the most effective for actually convincing regular people probably Imperialist.

Idk if this even has anything specific to do with being disabled except that people for some reason feel the need to get in disabled peoples business. Like just treat disabled people like youd treat anyone else. Unsolicited advice is usually not something someones wants. A disabled person isnt gonna suddenly want it because theyre disabled.

Like for example if i told someone "I got food poisoning" and they were like "Have you considered..." Id be like dude shut the fuck up im shitting my brains out over here. Just leave me alone.

Thats something people generally understand. If you think you have advice that could help you can say "Oh i know a good home remedy wanna hear it?" You dont just start throwing advice at people.

People just need to treat disabled people with the same respect theyd give to a non-disabled person. Thats the way i see it anyway.

I was thinking of looking for a gym with a good queer community figure if they advertise as queer friendly it probably turns off Nazis from signing up.

I wouldn't really be doing MMA to socialize anyway. I'd just learn what i need to learn, and cancel the membership after.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

yeah i was just being cheeky even libs would probably freak out about that. I wouldn't wear something like that somewhere i didn't know people already and know atleast some would be fine with it.

Is it Passiflora Edulis, or Passiflora Incarnata? Incarnata is the non-tropical one and native to the southeast US among other places while edulis is native to the tropics.

So admittedly i am not the most well read on Islam, but i am aware that generally the entire muslim world has a majority of the population despising the US/Isntreal at this point right?

So with everything going on i can't help but think there is a non-zero chance this could trigger a 2nd arab sping. If US Vassals in the region sit idly by while Iran, and its allies are in full blown war with the US/isntreal i can see it really fucking pissing off a lot of the population in the muslim world.

Am i reading this wrong, and there isn't really any proper organization in most of these countries to pull something off, or could we actually see some real popular pressure start to form against US-backed states/monarchies?

The US president is denying reports he left the G7 summit early to work on a truce between Israel and Iran.

Attributing the claim to his French counterpart, Trump wrote: “Publicity seeking President Emmanuel Macron, of France, mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to D.C. to work on a ‘ceasefire’ between Israel and Iran. Wrong! He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire.”

He said his return was about something “much bigger than that” and added, “Stay Tuned!”

As we’ve been reporting, the US leader earlier issued an ominous warning on his Truth Social platform, saying: “Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”

I am assuming Stalin would approve of this since he literally robbed trains. Also he's so handsome. So thats why hes my thumbnail.

Recently I have kind of realized that the way I use the internet isnt as common as I thought. I don’t watch ads ever, and I pirate a lot. I thought id share some methods and hopefully help others get a better online experience.

~~So I know theres a few piracy communities around that might work for some of this stuff, but its not all piracy and I want more people to see it so here we are~~

I wanted to make this because I think a lot of people don’t realize just how easy it is to save money, and time online. Even if you know some of these methods hopefully a few will be new to you.

Time to learn how to look like this IRL

We will go through some stages. Basic, Advanced, and Torrenting methods.

Basic

First things first is the web browser we are going to use. This guide will be based on FLOORP. A Fire Fox fork. Its what I use for general web use. For more privacy centric folks switch it out for LibreWolf and all this should still work fine with some tweaking. Or any Firefox variant.

Browser Extensions: Get these from the firefox extension store.

Ublock Origin: General adblock and doesn’t need much configuring. If it doesn’t block something you want gone you can right click it and block it manually.

Alternative Player for Twitch.tv: This will add a new web player for twitch streams which will block ads in the streams. It will drop the resolution while it blocks them to 480p and say “Hiding Ads” in the corner. I am pretty sure the streamer still gets paid since it has no way to know you arent watching them.

ClearURLs: Removes tracking elements from URLs

I still don’t care about cookies: Will get rid of annoying cookie pop ups on most sites by just accepting them automatically.

Sponsorblock for YouTube – Skip Sponsorships: Names self explanatory. Community powered so some new videos wont be flagged yet. You can configure what is skipped and isnt.

A few others I find useful, Dont Track Me Google, Twitch Channel Points Autoclicker, Unwanted Twitch, Youtube-shorts block, Pinyin Web(For learning chinese), Dark Reader.

Now at this point your browser should be basically ad free and debloated. I recommend messing with FLOORPs settings if you used that its got some nice customization options.

Now lets make use of it to get some free content.

Anime: https://kaa.mx/ or https://hianime.to/tv

TV/Movies: https://movies5.online/

Overall list of pirating sites and other useful things: https://fmhy.net/ This has all kinds of stuff. Definitely worth checking out. It even has textbooks for school.

I cannot stress enough that I would not go to piracy sites without the above adblocking setup or something similar. Theyre usually full of crazy ads some of which could have malware. With ads blocked ive never had issues though.

Advanced

Music: Many people use spotify. If you do I recommend not buying premium, and instead using SpotXBash. Or the windows alternative. This one works for Linux and Mac. You run the script, and your spotify is ad free. It does require terminal usage, and theres always the risk your spotify account gets banned if they detect it. It’ll need re running every now and then as updates can mess it up. I’ve never been banned but if your worried about it make a new account for it. https://github.com/SpotX-Official/SpotX-Bash

Now you may be thinking, like I did, “I wish I didn’t have to stream my music. Just let me download it.”

Thats where spotdl comes in. https://github.com/spotDL/spotify-downloader

Theres a tutorial on getting it setup on the github. Once its ready its pretty simple you make a playlist on your newly ad free spotify, run the command spotdl with the link to it, and itll grab all the songs off youtube if theyre available. Quick and easy music piracy. Not perfect as sometimes you get music video versions but its pretty good.

I’ve downloaded hundreds of songs this way, and its nice to have when you don’t have internet, and the powers out or something.

Also if you don’t want to use youtube at all due to privacy reasons now we have a more advanced option for you. FreeTube. Its an app that works on all OS’s as far as I have seen even mobile, and works as a youtube frontend. You can even use invidious as the way to get videos for even more privacy. https://freetubeapp.io/

Torrenting

Ok if you’ve been following along this far its time to take a breather. Depending on where you are, and who your ISP is this part can be pretty risky. You might get letters in the mail, might get fined, could even get sued in some places.

That being said I can show you how to do it safely.

First we are going to buy something. Mullvad VPN. Its the only VPN id recommend getting. It is 5.50$ or so a month, and if you cancel your streaming accounts it’ll pay for itself now that you’ll be pirating stuff with it.

Once youve bought and setup Mullvad we can continue. Go here: https://mullvad.net/en/check

Its going to check that the VPN is working correctly. You should see 3 green boxes that say Using Mullvad, No DNS leaks, No WebRTC leaks. If you have that go into Mullvads settings. Under VPN settings Kill Switch, and Lockdown Mode should be turned ON. This will prevent your computer from connecting to the internet with anything but the VPN.

Now we are gong to get qBitTorrent. This is our torrenting client. Your gonna install it, click settings, advanced, and look for “Network Interface.” There will be a drop down menu. Click it and select the mullvad option. Mine is “wg0-mullvad” then click apply.

Your now ready to torrent and cannot be tracked by the other leechers or seeders. So you wont get those DMCA letters.

Now where do we find things to torrent? That wiki I linked earlier has some stuff. For games https://fitgirl-repacks.site/ is a great option. She recently repacked The Last of Us Part II remastered.

You’ll copy the magnet link, put that into Qbittorrent, and let it do its thing. Once its done you’ll pause the torrent. Assuming you don’t want to keep seeding it for other people downloading. Then open up the files and it’ll be an easy installer.

So to recap. You should no longer be seeing ads online, no longer be paying for stupid streaming services, and be getting lots of music, and games for free. Plus you get the added bonus of making liberals and capitalists mad by not giving them your money. If your well off take the money you saved and do mutual aid, if your poor like me and couldn’t afford this stuff anyway, enjoy!

P.S. If you are worried about not supporting certain independent creators and stuff while doing this keep in mind direct donations are still an option for pretty much everything. Most youtubers have a patreon or something for example.

Hey hexbear its been a minute. Hows everyone been?

So, like many of you I'm sure, i have been on Xiaohongshu lately. It was like a breath of fresh air. I always knew that China was there with its 1.3 billion strong population a majority of whom are extremely based. To see it first hand though? To actually talk to them? It reignited a flame of hope inside me that was getting pretty weak lately. It's easy to get lost in the horrible shit going on. Especially in the west. Where youre surrounded by fascists and radlibs constantly. Part of why i use lemmy is to get that experience of being around sane people. Who arent existing in some alternate reality created by US propaganda.

Now despite my username I'm not one of those people who thinks China does no wrong, and is a perfect utopia. It's still very much in the early stages of socialism and admits as much. One thing i heard from a Chinese comrade though was- paraphrased: "China is preparing to bring the next international socialist movement by 2050. Things are going well, and we are confident. The party brings us good news regularly, and great progress is being made." and another one asked "Are you [people in the west] prepared for revolutionary action?"

It made me think. Am i ready - If China launched a worldwide effort to support socialist movements, and revolutions as the USSR once did - tomorrow? I'm not. Not even close. I mean yeah obviously the west itself doesn't have the conditions needed for it. It's not ready at all. Me personally I'm not either, BUT I could be with some work.

So i am going to change that. I have 25 years according to that comrade; more than enough time. I'll be a bit old, but not to the point i can't fight. I've made a plan, and already started putting it into action. No more escapism in my free time. I will be learning Chinese, teaching myself math that i missed out on in school up to calculus, learning a martial art, exercising A LOT more, diving more into my radio hobby, buying a gun/learning how to shoot it well, studying up on other useful subjects, and teaching myself some advanced first-aid. Perhaps I'll even study up on modern guerilla tactics used by the axis of resistance a bit.

If that day ever comes where I am needed be it in 2050, or otherwise I don't want to even have to consider if I'm ready or not. I want to just be able to say "hell yeah" and get to work.
