8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners.
The auto mod will contact you if a link shortener is detected, please delete your post if they are right.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

So King Trump is just fucking up the world economy because it's fun to him? Right that tracks.
"Insiders hope" might be better phrasing than "insiders admit". Tariffs at this level weren't being recommended by anyone besides Trump, because they're stupid as hell. The right-libertarian wing of the party doesn't want any kind of tariffs what so ever. The protectionist wing wants some tariffs, but not strong, across the board tariffs like this.
Nobody wants this except Trump. Almost literally nobody. His supporters back it because that's how cults work. Nobody thinks this is a good idea of their own accord.

Is there any evidence of him selling and buying at the right moment? Cos it's always seemed like such an intellect free strategy to me. It's like he's saying "Ooh you other countries, if you don't do what I say I'll make Americans pay YOU a lot more for your goods!". No wonder so many financial experts around the world seem utterly befuddled by this.
Trump just got attached to the idea that once upon a time the federal government didn’t charge any income or corporate tax, and made all its money from tariffs. But at that time, they had barely any spending, almost no public services and absolutely no welfare. And the US doesn’t really produce much anymore.
But it also works out for his friends, cause announcements of tariffs or pauses in tariffs make big moves in the markets. And if you know in advance, you can make big trades and make big money. Which they have been doing nonstop.
No direct evidence for him no, but there is direct evidence that the market shifts slightly before his announcements, suggesting that somebody is getting advanced knowledge.
It is not the actual tariffs, but the market reacting to the thread of them, and acting on that.

The market is starting to catch on to his bullshit and doesn't move nearly as much as it did in response to every little announcement.
