Since Ive offered him pretty much everything (under reasonable prices) like all kinds of games, ball games, skate etc, he also has a bike so I’m totally out of ideas

last gift was a cheap xiaomi sports bracelet which he loved, but now I don’t know how to up it…

A pair of socks? He only shows much love for me near the seasons 😂 so I told him santa was watching (of course he doesn’t believe in santa anymore). I might prank him but I need a backup gift, so… title

2 day old post, so didn't skim to check, but if nobody mentioned slacklining, you should check it out. It's super cheap to get into, and it'll teach balance and build core strength which will translate into a million other hobbies.

Get him into buhurt or jugger! Yes, those are real sports, despite sounding like gibberish.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Drag race, sitting near the beginning where you feel the cars take off.

Indoor skydiving.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Again thanks for everyone’s suggestions. Some of you I didn’t reply cause I isn’t applicable for where I live and I wasn’t expecting so many good replies. But I appreciate it immensely, I have a lot to think about.

You have made my day

This is a very fun place and all about movement and they are opening one up in the UK. Not sure if you can buy him a gift card and take him when it opens? In the US it’s $25 or $29 per ticket.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Tickets to amateur wrestling/any sport. My dad brought me to wwf wrestling as a kid and it was such a blast. Tickets to any live sports/teams that he’s into will blow his mind. Or people pizza and lazer tag is always fun imo and very budget friendly.

Tickets/Voucher for a rock climbing centre could be up his alley.

If you want something that will last you could get him a powder bag, or his first Carabiner as well.

Be prepared that the climbing place might not let him use the Carabiner in conjunction with their equipment though, so it might sit around until he got his own harness if he ever went that far. Powder bag would be all good.

Get him a helmet and vest so he can get into rodeo sports.

A polypropylene practice sword, though a good one might run you 40 EUR, depending on size and type.

Best experience I had so far is with Cold Steel ones.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

I already gave him a wooden practice “katana”. He loves it and he’s a natural. Got to check those propylene ones, never heard of them, thanks for the heads up

Those seem fun, I already gave him a skateboard, but that seems even more fun, thanks

Now that’s thinking outside the box. Not sure the parents would approve and sounds expensive. But another one for my box of ideas, thanks

The Snack! bike bags are really fun

There are lots of options for cool lights for a bike, like colored LEDs.

A good bike tool like the Topeak Ratchet Rocket.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Those bags seem cool, he goes to many races (he’s been on triathlon for about two years). But he might enjoy it and isn’t too expensive. And kids love that stuff, thanks for the idea

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Rocket Power season 1 DVDs

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

He probably doesn’t have any idea what a dvd is 😂 but good idea on the series, thanks

[–] [email protected] 25 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Get him an experience. Take him to an X-games style event, or indoor surfing, or Jr paintball, etc. There may be some tracks that will rent karts that young, but spectating is fun, too.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

This is the way to go. Seeing an actual professional do this shit is an experience like no other.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Do you have any rock climbing gyms near you? Could get a punch card to one.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I’ve thought about building a climbing wall at my parents house, they have the space, but maybe for a future project. I would like one myself 😅

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Time to justify it by giving your nephew a punch card to YOUR climbing wall!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Could you build a wood racecar like they use in the soapbox derby? I saw plans online, the kits are a couple hundred USD, but you might be able to build a cheaper one from scratch...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

When I was his age we built those from scratch using wood and roller barings from car wheels. And slingshots, cross bows. We could also use bb guns easily cause there was one in every home. Fun times, I don’t know how we survived.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Welp the ones who didn't aren't posting ; )

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Giftcard to good favorite shop is a gimme.

Apart from that… get him a hammock! If he’s a little extreme kiddo, he’ll probably love hanging it up between trees and climbing into it.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 month ago (2 children)

At-home laser tag game? When we were kids my brother had one - 2 battery powered chest plates you wore and 2 guns. We’d turn the lights off in the basement and play.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

A bit too expensive for a nice one like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082XJRTMG?tag=bc-ftrd-20&psc=1

But surely it would earn me a lot of “cool uncle” points

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

That seems fun, I must check it out, thanks

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

Potatoe Cannon (less than 30$, can assist him in print out together so he knows how to fix it!) or pogo stick? (Both equally unsafe imo)

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

Since you mention €30, I guess it depends on the country.

I bought my nephews a youth bow and arrow set a few years ago because they were all about Hawkeye in the Marvel movies.

But depending on your country, that may or may not be legal. :(

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

Hmm, sounds like an experience gift would go over well! I’m in the US but some cool stuff you could try giving him gift cards or tickets to?

  • Waverider, which is sort of like surfing but you don’t have to go to the beach
  • Renting an ATV for few hours to drive out on a trail
  • One of those BMX tracks for bikes instead of motorcycles
  • Indoor skydiving Sorry if none of these are under budget, I haven’t done any of these in forever so couldn’t tell you what the price is.

Thought about a small kettlebell cause I love them and could teach them. But I fear it may be too unsafe for his age

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

Maybe hand grip strengtheners.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

A slack line? Maybe over budget

Stuff to build skate features, or wax for waxing curbs

If he lives by snow, a park rake is super cool for building snow features. It like makes a perfect jump for you.

G-form (knee)pads maybe lame, but by far the most comfortable protection I've ever worn.

A knife, 10 year old me would spend hours widdling sticks, trying to make wooden swords and stuff

3d printed nerf guns are amazing now. If you have access

[–] [email protected] 29 points 1 month ago

I just want to say you are the greatest. In reddit this question would be ignored, but here I have my hands full just keeping up with replying. I have to sleep now as I have to wake early tomorrow but wow, you’re the best 😘
