"Study shows" They found one study? And ignored the rest?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

I mean that's been their go to with the Bible for thousands of years. You find a passage that could be taken to mean what you want and ignore the rest...

Do you think he capitalized "LAW & ORDER" like that because it's how it looks in the TV show title sequence?

As a human that understands, speaks, and writes in the English language, I don’t think this man understands the English language.

Most of what he says makes no sense and I’m starting to believe literacy is the problem. Does he know how to read? This is a genuine question.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Education is absolutely a massive problem. Education in every red state has been beaten into submission. While there's a couple of colleges in red states that are pretty respectable the rest of their education is absolutely the worst.

They go as far as to indoctrinate their schools. Can't learn any race history It might make you feel better about minorities. They're trying to wrap religion into the schools. The uneducated are easier to push around with fear. And their own educational insecurities make them more likely to flock toward a candidate who seems uneducated.

People have been saying for years now that he abuses Adderall. Furthermore he is aging poorly and under a lot of stress from felony cases and convictions. This is a rapid decline and the starting point was not literacy.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Adderall, that is new to me.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

Amphetamines in general.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

...it's pretty common knowledge and readily explains his propensity for late-night toilet tweets when he's not busy watching TV...

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

So that’s always been curious to me as someone prescribed adderall and takes it daily. I shit all my shit out after my first dose in the morning and then again after I get home from work. Unless I’m sick that’s how it goes, when is he taking it!?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Is your diet also entirely diet coke and big mac hamberders?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago

No but just because I eat better than a him doesn’t mean it’s much better

[–] [email protected] 38 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's proven he can't read for shit but the bigger problem now is how bad the dementia is getting. He's way worse than he was a year ago. I hope the magat idiots really like the couch fucker because if Dementia DonOLD gets in, the eyeliner wearing couch fucker will be President not long after.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

because if Dementia DonOLD gets in, the eyeliner wearing couch fucker will be President not long after.

I'm starting to think that's the plan.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

The man looks like he would fit right in with the rest of the commanders on The Handmaid's Tale.

He makes me want to buy a rape alarm and I'm not even a woman.

"Trump doesn’t understand a Florida Amendment," she said Saturday. "Study shows crime goes up when marijuana is legal. Can his advisors prep him better, please? Vote NO on 3."

This sounds wrong to me. People smoking pot on the sofa eating munchies and watching tv are not out committing crimes.

David Biddle, chair of the Gilchrist GOP in the state, said on Saturday, "Don't listen to Trump. Vote NO on Amendment 3. We don't need recreational marijuana in Florida. It's been a disaster everywhere they have it, it brings zero benefit to society, it increases crime, increases homelessness, and increases further drug use. It's bad for Florida."

Hmm. Hasn't been a disaster where I am (California). I think the state makes a lot of money taxing it. But why don't we ask the internet?

This frees up significant law enforcement resources to protect our communities in other, more pressing ways.” Government-published data, academic research, and the experiences of many law enforcement officials indicate that marijuana policy reform does not increase crime rates.

https://www.mpp.org/issues/legalization/marijuana-legalization-is-not-linked-with-increased-crime-rates/

Results offer some evidence suggesting a beneficial impact of legalization on violent crime clearances, as manifested by significant increases in the clearance rate for overall violent crimes and that for aggravated assault in OR counties relative to those in the non-legalized states following legalization.

Conservatives are too stupid to actually verify anything their idiot "news" media tells them. They just know that they hate young people and people of color for loud music, getting high, and having a future.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago

Yeah, the crime thing is bullshit. All of their objections are bullshit. Canada is having absolutely zero problems from legalizing weed. It's been a huge positive here.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

TO BE FAIR... It fucking sucks when I live in a residential neighborhood and put my kids down for bed at 8pm, and at midnight some asshat drives by with really loud pipes or like 12" doubles in the trunk.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 months ago

If that dude was home getting baked you wouldn't have this problem!

[–] [email protected] 36 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

In Canada, where it's legal throughout the whole damn nation:

Usage among teens (under 18) has dropped since legalisation.

There are almost no crimes associated with cannabis use aside from impaired driving.

(It used to be a cash crop for certain motorcycle enthusiast clubs)

The government has made billions in tax revenue.

It employs thousands.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

There is arguably one crime that is an issue with legal dispensaries. Since pot is still illegal federally, dispensaries don’t have access to normal banking, which makes them a cash-heavy business. Which means like other cash-heavy businesses, they’re a prime robbery target.

But there is great solution to this. Legalize it nationwide and let people pay with credit cards instead of debit or cash. Let them operate like a normal retail business.

Conservatives are too stupid to actually verify anything their idiot “news” media tells them.

It's not that they're too stupid. It's that they are too biased. They don't want to know the truth. Most of us acquire information and then come to a conclusion about reality. Conservatives, at least the worst of them, come to a conclusion about what they think reality is or should be and then go looking for information to support that conclusion. As long as the data supports their conclusion, it doesn't matter if the information is wrong once they have it.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

This is 💯.

I remember after the 2016 election I was on Reddit saying how every cabinet pick Trump made they'd just research a different argument for why it wasn't the worst pick ever. When I wrote that they were like, "what else could we do?!". The idea of a politician picking easily understood and qualified people for cabinet positions didn't even cross their minds.

[–] [email protected] 49 points 2 months ago

Biddle is actually correct about crime. If you truly believe that black people are criminals and marijuana laws are your shortcut to jail black people who appear threatening, then yeah. Obviously legalizing marijuana will leave more people on the streets who he feels should be labeled as criminals.

I'd like to say /s, but I'm pretty sure when they say "crime goes up," they mean "I see more black people looking comfortable wandering around in public."

[–] [email protected] 26 points 2 months ago

Most of the bullshit talking points out there come from the assholes making money from incarcerations, and GOP psychos have been all up in that forever. I can't find the quote, but I remember the Senate hearing on Marijuana legalization where one of those southern state senators just straight up said something "Think about all the prisons we'll have to close."

[–] [email protected] 29 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I can't tell what's more absurd. Trump being for legalizing Marijuana, or the claim that every state that has, is riddled with crime and homelessness because of it.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago

Well, I'm positive he's full of shit when it comes to legalization. He's a business owner, anti-union, and caters to the kooky religions. None of these entities working with him would ever want him to legalize the "devils lettuce".

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Crime didn't exist before the 1960s in the fantasy these people live within.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Are these the same people who think history began with the Bible?

“Reported” crime was minimal, and the local government was OK if the local guys had their own lynching from time to time if some out of towner looked like they needed it.

Seriously… the 1950s were a time when a lot of stuff happened that was never reported to the police because it was safer that way.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

Good point. There's a fine book I'd like to recommend: Sundown Towns: A Hidden Dimension of American Racism

Law and Order president means president with experience as a criminal defendant.
