I want to watch a movie that will make me cry.

(Because I need those endorphins to help me with depression. I feel better after a good session of crying. Sorry if this is weird...)

What about Dead Poets Society? I haven't seen it in decades but it made me cry a lot.

Your list is getting quite long but here's another less week known movie:

Nine Days (by Edson Oda)

Women Talking

Its not really a movie with a lot of depth but "Hachi: A Dog's Tale" wrecked me.

Looks like you've got a long list already, but the last movie that made me lump in my throat cry was Awakenings with Robin Williams and Robert deNiro

Came here to say the same thing.

Also, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was better than it had a right to be.

Forrest Gump.

Who Will love My Children? 1983

Mask 1985

I defy anyone to get to the end of either movie without being a total mess.

Many good movies have been mentioned already (especially Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind, Big Fish, Manchester by the sea and The Fountain).

I would like to add:

  • Finding Neverland
  • Captain Fantastic

And if you want to absolutely destroy yourself: Prayers for Bobby.

The Fountain Grave of the Fireflies

Came here to suggests these two choices!

When the Wind Blows

In this hand-drawn animated tale, elderly married couple Hilda (Peggy Ashcroft) and Jim Bloggs (John Mills) have their quiet, simple lives in the English countryside interrupted when they learn of an impending nuclear attack. Not completely understanding the gravity of their situation, Hilda and Jim react archaically and insufficiently after the attack -- and the film takes a dark turn as the radiation begins taking its toll on the unsuspecting couple.

I didn't make it through that movie, though it's very well done.

It wasn't so much a tear jerker for me. It just left me feeling sick to my stomach.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

I'm pretty sure that was kind of the point. I didn't think it was sad so much as an extremely troubling look at the human experience.

It's an incredibly uncomfortable movie to watch. If you were sick in the beginning you would really not have been well at the end.

Probably going to get some hate for who's in it (Jared Letto) and some of the content (step sibling incest), but the ending of Mr. Nobody wrecked me.

No matter how many times I watch Flow, it never fails to make me cry by the end.

I was going to say this one, I was crying all throughout the screening 'cause the themes I picked up fom the beginning of the movie moved me deeply and resonated on a personal level. It's also visually astonishing, that alone would have made me cry. A fantastic experience.

Oh man, how has 'The Fall' not been mentioned?!

It's one of the most visually stunning movies I've ever seen, and the story will tear your heart out.

This is my recommendation too. I just watched again recently, and my dad is on his way out and I just bawled. Such a great movie.

I can't believe nobody has said Coco. I dare anyone to get through the end without at least a tear or two.

Oh I'm so glad someone said Coco! Oh gosh, the final scenes and the final song always gets me
