Pretty sure "LeninsOvaries" is satire given such a username. Like "it's not like trump would ever do anything to hurt Gazans" that's got to be satire lol

I want to watch a movie that will make me cry.

(Because I need those endorphins to help me with depression. I feel better after a good session of crying. Sorry if this is weird...)

you cannot be compelled to divulge those

They can deny entry.

Even for US citizens, they could still detain you for 48 hours, seize all belongings, and put you on a no-fly list.

There are still countries even worse than the US.

And I think you're underestimating the strength of an immigrant's will to take risks to attempt to find a better life. Immigrants have suffered far worse throught US History.

I mean, just take a look at Wong Kim Ark. Dude didn't just give up and leave, he stood his ground and fought though it, even though he had no idea if the US would even consider his case seriously.

And many people already have relatives in the US. So these are the risks they are willing to take to reunite. Unlike many westerners, who just completely give up on the slightest obstacles.

(Although I do think the much better option now is the EU, if they don't have any relatives in the US already.)

They always had. The US border has this special exemption to the constitution that some of the normal protections don't apply.

If you are a citizen, they (legally speaking) can't deny you entry, but can jail (detain) you for 48 hours and seize all your belongings, and put your on a no-fly list if they wanted to.

If you are not a citizen, they could deny you entry on top of all that.

This was always the case in previous administrations, its just that in previous administration, they weren't this insane.

Fun Fact: USCIS can see even juvenile records for the past 5 years, so if you just became 18, meaning, (example) that fight at school when you were 14 where you defended yourself against the racist xenophobia bully? That's on record. For adult records, they could see every arrest even if it never resulted in a conviction, and could make decisions based on arrests alone. Or of they have "enough evidence" suggesting you are a drug user or drug dealer, they could make you "inadmissible", even if there are zero arrests nor convictions.

For adult records, they can see all sealed records, expunged records, or even pardoned offenses, and make decisions based on that, and you're expected to answer honestly, otherwise if they find out like even decades after the fact, they can just revoke any visa, green card, or even citizenship. And all that was already a thing before this traitor scum got into office.

And people are saying "immigration is too lax", I'm like: Bitch, do you know how hard is it to get in? You probably don't even qualify had you not been born here

Lemmy is a leftist platform, the devs literally calls themselves "Marxist-Leninists", so everyone here is guilty by association, they don't care about tankies vs anarchist vs Social Democrat vs Neoliberal, to the far right, you're all Maoists/Stalinists, which means you're kinda fucked lol.

Maybe if you were using reddit, and didn't post anything political, you could pass as an apolitical normie.

Politicians make the laws, if people are being oppressed, its more of the politicians being the root cause of evil.

So... ACAB + APAB?

EDIT:

I'm using these definitions for the word politician: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/politician

noun. [UK] - a member of a government or law-making organization

noun. [US] - a person who is active in politics, esp. as a job

I mean, we know they can be used as evidence against you, but what if I was actually just chilling and watching Youtube videos at home? Can my spying piece of shit phone ironically save me? 🤔

I mean, even democratic countries are using mass surveillance, not just autocratic ones. So I think, just like with mass surveilance, this "Social Media Investigation" would become the next step in the evolution of how technology is used against us, every country is gonna start scanning your social media.

I wonder how times have changed. I know someone who immigrated to the US around 2010s, they had no social media, most of their country didn't really have internet yet. They were let in just fine and have since became a US citizen.

So is 2010s have no expectation of having social media, but now its an expectation?

Make a fake one that posts like... idk post random tech stuff that you could be reasonably interested in. Make nothing critical of authority. As a decoy profile.

Then you can rant about big brother on an anonymous Lemmy Account over TOR.

I'd probaby cry and find poison to use as food replacement 🙃

I've had people tell me that this is (their words, not mine): "mental illness"

This is a judgement-free zone, please be nice 🙃
