Showerthoughts
A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The best ones are thoughts that many people can relate to and they find something funny or interesting in regular stuff.

There is a valid scientific reason for this.
Your body requires a certain amount of carbs protein and fat and you are subconsciously drawn to foods that have the proper proportions of these three items.
Potatoes do not inherently have much fat or protein so we add things like sour cream and butter because they are high in fat and then we eat them with steak for protein.
French fries on the other hand is bathed in pure Oil making them really high in fat fulfilling two of our bodies basic needs fat and carbs, we then eat them with burgers that are high in protein. The ketchup has little to do with this specifically however there is a valid reason ketchup is full of citrus acids an acid commonly found in fresh fruits deceiving your brain into thinking you’re eating a healthy delicious fresh fruit instead of a starch filled oil drenched root.
Because they're already filled with lots of fats? Saturated fats at that.
Mayo is 75% fat and yet it is used as a dip everywhere.
But mayo has only like 6% saturated fats
Why don't you?
I like eating my fries with sour cream.
That's what I was thinking. I've been eating sour cream and fries since I was in high school working in fast food.
To tell you the true get yourself a plain cheeseburger and put sour cream on that. It is dope. I figured that out making messy ass chili cheeseburgers and I mixed in sour cream. It wasn't long before I figured out meat, cheese, and sour cream go very well together.
I find poutine to be the superior presentation of the fry as a meal in its own right.
Also, shoutout to lomo saltado, because that shit slaps pretty hard too.
My man... Have you not heard of garlic fries? Just plop some sour cream on those. 🤤
A place I used to go had sour cream and chili sauce fries on the menu.
Standard issue with potato wedges in Australia.
This was in Tokyo, but the owner travelled a lot and quite probably had them in either Australia or Thailand.
Wherever you go, tasty is tasty.
Were the taters wedge-shaped?
Nope, shoestring
It is, I'm more surprised that you don't...
Also on the list, any wildcard + Fries.

The list goes on. It's almost easier to list things you wouldn't want fries with and even then I'm sure some maniac would order fries under Sashimi.
You can. Although they're not typically french fries, they are generally thicker cut so you have somewhere to actually put your condiments.
We bought fries today that came with sour cream on them, they were delicious.
nothing’s stopping you but your own fear.
Also judgement from internet strangers, you can't forgot that.
A chain near me called chicken shack serves home style fries coated in garlic butter and I prefer them over standard french fries
When I make steak fries at home, I'll sometimes mix sour cream and hot sauce for a dip.
I know a lot of people who like to dip French fries in Ranch dressing, which is like sour cream with extra steps.
Mayo with chilli powder
It's pretty common in Canada to be able to order fries with sour cream, green onion, tomatoes, and cheese/queso. (It's the best thing on taco bells menu and they don't even have it state-side)
That being said fries are way greasier than a baked potato, and they are better suited to more acidic condiments (ketchup, malt vinegar, etc)
Poutine or gtfo lol
so mayonnaise or tartar sauce it is!
mayonnaise on fries is a staple in Germany.
Anywhere in the world except USA and Canada AFAIK
Unironically my two favorite sauces for fries. I attribute a not insignificant portion of my weight gain pre-COVID on slathering cafeteria fries with too much mayo.
I think the oil they're deep fried in takes the place of the butter. As for sour cream, I'm not a fan in general so I couldn't tell you.
My favorite thing to put on fries is malt vinegar
We’re used to white vinegar up here. First time I asked for vinegar in the US and got this malt thingy I was very disappointed lol
White vinegar on fries??? I don't know why but that sounds horrible lol I mostly use white vinegar for cleaning
It's good, both are available with fish and chips here. Malt vinegar is definitely superior though.
