Ask Lemmy
A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either [email protected] or [email protected].
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email [email protected]. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

Hometown Aftermath by Avith Ortega, as part of an atmospheric playlist I put on for CDDA during the homebase grind.
I'm listening to the bathroom fan whirl while I take my post-coffee dump.

Just found this artist on tiktok and in really digging their latest album.
Romdom - Jane Doe
It's glitchy jazzy EDM. Not a genre i listen too a lot of but i am hooked on this artist
What Does Your Soul Look Like, Pt. 2, by DJ Shadow. On a weekend away, drinking wine with a Spotify playlist on.
The wind and the rain.
The Nightly Radio. It’s a web site described as “Sad. Old. Radio”. A continuous loop of thousands of old records collected by the creator(s). Very international and many genres. It’s not for everyone, but I love the vibe, esp. while working. thenightlyradio.com
My fiance playing Baulders Gate 3 in the other room.
The buzzing in my ears as a result of a long day drinking beer, watching football ⚽, and travelling by train.
tinnitus and sometimes a car driving outside
My wife and mother in law talking about hobbies.
Whitechapel's album Our Endless War. Currently on "The Saw Is The Law". Also the a/c unit running lol.
House sparrows, Cardinals, and robins mostly

These moments by Typekast.
A ticking clock with occasional sleeping dog sounds.
The Doors - Light My Fire
I don't even particularly like this song, but it's what came on YouTube Music.
The sound of silence.
Not the song.
Rain on the roof and the hum of household appliances. The fridge just turned on.
Daft-Punk - Random Access Memory
My tinnitus. It’s half past midnight and all is quiet except the constant scream of being inside my head.
You should get a white noise machine with a real fan. I use it to stop myself from thinking so much so I can sleep.
Thank you. I use a fan most nights. And I have an mp3 Player with several albums like “peaceful rain sounds for sleeping”. Sometimes they help.
The constant ringing in my ears.
My washing machine and some muffled rock music from my neighbour
Thursday's episode of Marketplace (in podcast form) by American Public Media.
Cairo by Karol G. And jet engine noises.
Polyphia - Remember that you will die
Really good, mostly instrumental tracks, and the gimmick is that they play different melodies in different time signatures. Really fucking catchy. Neurotica and Playing God are two of my favorites off this album.
3D printer sounds, which are more musical than you might think
B I R D S
The fan on my heater (it's a gas stove, not a cooking stove but the other kind) and it has a pretty loud fan that runs during and for a short time after heating.
Tinnitus and rain
Refrigerator.
The Gom Jabbar podcast
Nothing. I have some Kebu on pause in VLC, a bunch of YT browser tabs open with some vids I plan on watching when I get round to them, but apart from a gentle hum from my PC's fans the house is silent.
