They tried to have his name scrubbed, that's why it took months to get the announcement that there's nothing in it. Presumably, he was so integral to the entire operation that scrubbing any mention of Trump would effectively scrub the entire document—this is the result

Epstein wasn't some genius financier, he didn't earn his money; he got it from manipulating and taking advantage of people in his circles.
Read One Nation Under Blackmail, it makes a good case for his ties to intelligence and organized crime.
But the idea that he was an intelligence agent or anything more than a source in exchange for his own protection is ridiculous.
I don't think he was ever a sworn agent, but more like a trained asset.
