Summary

Elon Musk escalated controversy over accusations that his salute at a Trump rally resembled a "Sieg heil" by posting Nazi-related jokes on X, referencing figures like Rudolf Hess and Joseph Goebbels.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) initially defended Musk, urging "a bit of grace" and "benefit of the doubt," but later condemned his Holocaust-related jokes as offensive.

Conservative Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also defended Musk.

Critics highlighted Musk's history of promoting far-right conspiracy theories and enabling neo-Nazi content on X, raising concerns about increasing offensive rhetoric on the platform.

I’m having Deja vu. Didn’t he respond to something with a nazi pun tweet a couple years ago?

Edit: Well, fuck me! It was 3 months ago, almost to the day. Same “jokes” too.

And Huffington Post still too busy being fucking jellospined little bitches to actually say that the fuckwit did indeed throw the Nazi salute. Twice. Call it what it is, you Nazi sympathizer fucking cheesedick shitmouth cowards.

"Bet you did Nazi that coming"

We did. We did see it coming.

Any bets on when Trumpers start doing it at rallies? I give it a month max.

Trump famously said there's good people on both sides.

OMG, I haven't even thought about this. Imagine thousands of people doing this together all at once. A terrifying visual indeed!

Unfortunately I think it is now necessary to think of such things if only to inoculate ourselves against the numbness that follows horror. They escalate in shocking steps as an intentional strategy to stun healthy people into inaction.

At least for me personally, I have chosen not to spend the next 4 years in a state of emotional shock. I get it, they are callous monsters. I won’t let them distract me from working with every remaining sane person in my life to destroy them.

Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.

-Jean-Paul Sartre

Fuck this quote has basically had nonstop use for ten years now. It's the same fucking bullshit every time. It's all "jokes" right up until it's not.

It's not a Salute Controversy

It's not a hand gesture

It's a NAZI SALUTE and if you can't / won't / don't admit it or challenge it then you are enabling the problem and allow creeping Nazism and far right ideology into the public consciousness.

His puns weren't even good. And he probably stole them anyway.

Trump found his Nazi general.

The ADL lost all credibility forever, and the right to open their trap about anything, when they failed to condemn Musk's Nazi salute in the strongest possible terms.

It's not great when gentiles don't distance themselves clearly from the South African Nazi. But when jews don't either - especially jews who purport to defend against defamation of all things - it's extremely clear that those people are either totally corrupt or extremely wimpy.

[–] Sergio@slrpnk.net 49 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It's part of their name now. "The ADL, which defended Musk's nazi salute..."
