Literally 1984

Yup, that's what I do too. Mine are mounted to /media/user/ by default.

Figures, consent doesn't seem like something that both you and the Russians understand.

This is genuinely the worst trailer I've seen since Cats. It's going to be utterly terrible but kids are probably going to love it.

You only need the fob to start the car in most cases. The car will display a warning that it's not detected but you can still drive it.

For a couple of generations at the very least, yeah.

Unfortunately true for a lot of European countries. It's easy to post a 20 second video about "foreigners bad" and kids with the attention span of a gnat will eat it right up. A longer video that explains why things really are the way they are will get swallowed by the algorithm. It just amplifies populism and outrage and will be one of the great hurdles to overcome this century.

According to Wikipedia, Deus Ex MD, Hitman, Life is Strange 1&2, and the new Tomb Raider trilogy all have native Linux ports.

That's pretty cool. Square Enix is one of the better AAA-publishers when it comes to Linux support, they had native ports for Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, Hitman and a bunch more.

Lemmy is also not tracking the sites you visit. Everytime you click on a link on reddit, you're redirected through out.reddit.com.

I've tried pretty much every app there is and ended up with Thunder. It's got a huge amount of features and polish, a clean UI and gets regular updates. The only issue is that I don't see the number of upvotes on posts since my home instance upgraded Lemmy, though that will probably get fixed soon.

Grandma’s killer has escaped punishment for his crime

I think a drone will deliver his punishment soon enough.

Blanter accompanied the Red Army to Berlin in early 1945. He was commissioned by Stalin to compose a symphony about the capture of Berlin. However, when Vasily Chuikov was meeting with a German delegation led by Hans Krebs to negotiate their surrender following Hitler's suicide, Chuikov had several uniformed war correspondents pretend to be members of his general staff in order to appear more professional and intimidating at the negotiations. But Blanter was also meeting with Chuikov at the time the delegation arrived and he could not pass as a Red Army officer as he was wearing civilian clothes. Thus, Chuikov shoved him into a closet just before the delegate entered the room. While he remained there for most of the conference, he eventually lapsed into unconsciousness from a lack of air, collapsing out of the closet and into the room just as the delegates were preparing to leave, embarrassing Chuikov and astonishing the Germans.
