Gee, I wonder what the solution will be if other countries wont take our undesirables.

I had to look that up and I've always lived in an English speaking country. Such a weird way to say 5:30.

I know that type. They always escalate their stories and think everyone's always believing them, when in reality, everyone's too polite to call them out, until they're not.

...

You know something that often gets overlooked about bigoted "humor", is how predicable and tiring it it. Even if it wasn't inherently offensive, it's not funny.

Yeah and someone else in this threat brought up that there's another side to the discord drama. Frankly, this case is too messy to untangle. I can't tell if she's being completely honest or if all this could have been prevented of she set better boundaries. Regardless, I don't think it speaks to the greater issues in "gaming culture".

I'm not a gamer. I play games, but I'm not a Gamerᵀᴹ. I noped out of the "community" a long time ago.

I'm a little curious where she's getting the harassment from. If it's from twitter, I don't know what to tell her. It's designed to amplify hate and anxiety. If it's from lan parties or irl shit, yeah, I haven't experienced it, but I have seen that to a degree.

edit: Wait. Is the "harassment" coming from needy fans asking her to tweak her work for their liking? That's a little different from what I assumed this was about. I'm not going to side with the community nagging her for tweaks, but if she's creating this for herself, she needs to disengage from those types. If she's creating these mods, putting them out online and expecting only positive comments, I don't know what to tell her. This is something all big modders and have to deal with.

That's what Cessnas are for.

I think that's the thing that annoys me the most. Sometimes, a game doesn't get a sequel because sales were bad or the studio was bought out or even went bankrupt. Here, it's just because the guy running the company doesn't feel like it. They have a constant stream of free money from Steam sales to fall back on, so why not just let your game devs do something? I haven't kept up to date, but wasn't there this huge gap of time where none of the TF2 devs had logged and played any TF2?

You know, I knew the next HL game to come out after Ep2 would be a VR title. It was the most obvious direction Valve could go considering Gabe treats the HL series as a tech demo. Seriously, I think out of anyone at Valve, he has the least respect for the franchise. What I didn't predict that it would a a VR exclusive title and that it would retcon the ending of Ep2 so a character that died(and who's VA had died), would be alive again. Hell, they didn't even ask one of the MC's original VA to reprise her role(or cast into a different character if the age was an issue).

I have way more trust in the fan community to continue the story. Entropy: Zero took some cues from Epistle 3, so I hope the breadman and the Project Borealis are sharing notes, so the can have a shared continuity. I really, really liked the voiced MC of Entropy: Zero and the combat loop, with more enemy types and weapons was superb.

antlion army,

Hey, here's this cool thing. You can summon Antlions to fight with you, but only in two areas and never again. Oh, that boss fight in Ep2 where you could have gotten it again? Nope, but here's a Defend Against Waves set piece instead.

What I'm saying is that the combat loop got ignored for the gravity gun. Where's the Gluon Gun? Why is the Tau Cannon only mounted to the buggy? Why are both the SMG and AR2 full auto, spread weapons? If we're doing wide open areas, the AR2 should really have a tighter spread for long range engagements.

Halo did wide open environments, did vehicles with mouse or analog stick steering was a joy to drive and actually used them in more then one area before HL2. Keyboard steering sucks.

What HL2 excels at is presentation of the story. It's really not that deep of a story.

Also, never liked CS or military shooters, so that's not exactly a going to sell me. And don't get me started on the hat shit.

We do. It's called being Smart.

There are so many landmark games. I'd say HL1 was more influential then HL2 anyway. Hell, I'd say Portal did more for first person puzzle games then HL2 did for FPS games.

It just handicapped itself by making the gravity gun such busy work and ignoring other aspects.

Community college ostensibly for people who don't have a good track record from High School, but is often advertised as the cheap, local option for people who don't want to feel bad about having to go.

I did in fact try community college and it's really just high school material with smaller text. I even took it in parallel with an edX equivalent and the material wasn't even close to each other. The idea that CC is suppose to replace the first 2 years at a real college is terrifying and reinforces how much of the professional word is theater.

If you do any number of years at a community college, you should be able to apply as a freshman to a real college if you want.

Either I never belonged in the remedial classes, the GED is a participation trophy, or both are true.

Bonus, I tested out of community college geometry, but struggle with online high school geometry. I mostly wanted the college class to have classroom support for the online high school classes. They refused to let me take the class because I tested out of it.

I was thinking of how people on the old internet would just create and share stuff for the simple sake of doing it, without trying to grind the algorithm. This woman in the mid 00's would bike through Chernoby, taking pictures and checking rad levels along the way.

Her anglefire page is defunk, but she has a youtube page now.

And for an added level of interesting, here's the slashdot page where I originally found it.

Hello,

I'm creating a BoM for a youth group project. We're planning on building the Electromagnetic Ring Accelerator from Hyperspace Pirate. He's provided the 3d print files, but not the finer details on wire gauge, enamel wire gauge and ball size. I also want to confirm the photoresistor. Are there different photoresistors with with different sensitivities or ranges?

I've included the wip of the BoM.

I'm in a catch 22 situation. I want to go to a four year college, but I was previously placed in the remedial track and have a poor academic standing. If I go to a community college, I could improve my grades, but the material they cover is a replacement for high school classes and I'd be precluded from signing up for entry classes at the four year college. This seems like to would put me at a disadvantage when that finally happened and I would only be setting myself up for long term failure.

I'd consider CC if I could "transfer" in as a freshman to a four year, but the colleges I looked into all have rules against applying as a freshman if you have two years worth of credits. When I tried CC, the material was absolutely high school level just with smaller font in the textbooks.
