Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Yikes. Awful decision here.

The worst part about this is that it will take 20 years for the damages of this to become really apparent, and the dumb fucks who voted for trump will just blame whoever is currently in charge. Or claim that Democrats have some kind of disease gun.

I think it will have impact a lot sooner than 20 years. As soon as no one can trace the next listeria or salmonella outbreak, or evenrecognize there is a flu epidemic happening, or whatever. There will be kids dieing from bad ice cream before summer is over.

But fried ice cream is so good

Of course, if you don't collect any data on it so no one will know. Problem solved.

It's the Russian way. And the US is now a Russian vassal state.

Vaccinate while you can, this is gonna be a hell of a ride

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago

Probably a whole lot more than that. This is just the start.

The kennedy clan are known to be very protective of their reputation, hence being so reluctant to speak out about the insane russian asset in the family.

I'm going to enjoy watching their family name associated with the largest rise in preventable deaths in american history. At least until I contract polio.

Pay attention. They've spoken out a lot.

So will insurance companies stop covering vaccines after the federal government no longer supports/requires them? I guess state education departments could still require them.....right?

I'm betting insurance companies will still cover vaccines. If they didn't covered individuals will still get sick and consume even more costly medical, hospital, and surgical services. Getting customer to get vaccines are good business for insurance companies.

Unless regulation is so loose they basically don't have to pay a damn thing even when you get sick.

If it gets that bad, then people will simply drop insurance.

My insurance tries to get out of everything, but I cannot leave because it's legally mandated that I must buy it.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

In the USA at least, the mandate was dropped by Supreme Court decision.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago

Not unless they keep the regulation that ACA established where you need to be covered at a certain level. That way insurance companies can literally just collect money and not actually have to pay for anything.

So is covering preventative care like physical therapy after an injury so you can heal correctly and not require further treatments but my insurance gives diddly for PT. They should cover gym memberships and aerobic classes too. If they can deny coverage for smoking them I should get extra benefits if I exercise and eat properly.

We just don't know what is gonna happen next year when the shit hits the country.

I really hope someone is keeping a list of all of the saboteur hires, not just the cabinet level posts but stuff like this, in case we have the chance to remove them later.

I know in Mexico and other countries higher on the corruption index, where there are still elections that aren't pre-decided but a lot of additional corruption and arbitrary politicking, this purge-and-replace cycle happens every election. It's so unfortunate but may just be the new way of doing things, even if somehow we retain democratic elections.
