JP Morgan bankroll actual ecocide and genocide but people still make up fancifiul stories instead of being mad about the real world murder they fund

[–] [email protected] -1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

There's another reason for the sinking of whatever carcass it was... Three of the most wealthy men were aboard, all were strongly agaisnt the newly-minted Federal Reserve.

Now it's a simple matter of seeing how JPM felt about the Federal Reserve.

Whatever ship it was hit something.

WTC 7? How deep does this go?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago

Crushingly...

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

Yes. An iceberg.

Apparently there is a Wikipedia page dedicated to Titanic Conspiracy theories, who knew!

In regards to swapping the Olympic with the Titanic, this section summarizes:

British historian Gareth Russell, for his part, calls the theory "so painfully ridiculous that one can only lament the thousands of trees which lost their lives to provide the paper on which it has been articulated." He notes that, "since the sister ships had significant interior architectural and design differences, switching them secretly in a week would be nearly impossible from a practical standpoint. A switch would also not be economically worthwhile, since the ship's owners could have simply damaged the ship while docked (for instance, by setting a fire) and collected the insurance money from that 'accident', which would have been far less severe, and infinitely less stupid, than sailing her out into the middle of the Atlantic with thousands of people, and their luggage, on board, and ramming her into an iceberg".

[–] [email protected] 26 points 2 months ago (1 children)

But like…why the fuck would it even matter? The story is exactly the same, the only different thing is the name of the ship. And if their theory is that they only sunk it for insurance money…like, what were the people in charge of sailing the thing into an iceberg getting out of this except death? What a dumb thing to spend your time being up in arms over.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I believe the "plan" was to sink her slowly by letting some water in, then have the "safest" at sea disaster by calling for help with enough time for nearby vessels to assist. The theory then goes on to claim that hitting the iceberg was an accident that only happened because they couldn't steer around it fast enough due to the water they had already taken on.

Can't remember where I read this it, might have been the Wikipedia article about the conspiracy theory.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They obviously miscalculated the trajectory around the iceberg because they were using the round Earth model.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

And forgot the Moon hologram didn't really affect the tides.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

Ooooh. Well, when you put it that way!

[–] [email protected] 27 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If only the two pictures at the top weren’t swapped.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

Conspiracy theorists don't want you to know this one simple trick

[–] [email protected] 49 points 2 months ago (1 children)

this is a great theory because while it sounds insane, if it were true it'd actually be very boring

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 months ago

i was thinking that, this is the least insane conspiracy theory simply because no one other than rich fuckheads would care

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

That's a really long-standing theory. I remember a TV show on it in the 90s when I was a kid.

[–] [email protected] 130 points 2 months ago (2 children)

This is extremely compelling. Let’s get the world’s billionaires and the six conservatives on the US Supreme Court to investigate it in an amateur built submarine. Rich people love the titanic and lack of regulations.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Great idea except Windows has bricked all non-xbox gaming controllers /s

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

Just use x360ce, nothing can go wrong with a layer of controller emulation!

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

I'm sure I got a MadCatz controller lying somewhere, use that

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

We don’t have to tell the billionaires this

[–] [email protected] 26 points 2 months ago

Let's not leave out other political extremists, can't just have America investigating.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

We all know titanic was a victim of Indiana Jones and his rich friends through their submersible sinking the ship to block the entrance to Atlantis. While being chased by Cthulhu, since he angered him because they took the crystal skull. Then the US government covered it up because illuminati does not want the world to know Cthulhu exist.

[–] [email protected] 48 points 2 months ago (2 children)

They lost me forever at "at the last minute". Anyone with even a slight concept of logistics knows there's no way they're just going to swap all the provisions, luggage, load, fuel, passengers, etc. at anything near the last minute.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

If I remember correctly, loading a ship that size with coal took weeks. That was the main limitation when it came to turnaround time.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

and to force Celine Dion to swap out her lyrics at the last minute? Preposterous!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Wait, so her heart wouldn't go on?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

It was just too much to unload at the last minute

[–] [email protected] 71 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Sounds like nonsense, the pictures are swapped. Quote below from https://www.cruisemummy.co.uk/titanic-vs-olympic/

  1. The Titanic had more irregular windows One of the few differences you can spot by looking at pictures of the Titanic and the Olympic next to each other is that the Titanic had more irregular port holes on B deck.

This is because of all the design changes that were made to that part of the ship during construction – it means that the windows were spaced out a lot more unevenly.

On the Olympic, because the plans were unchanged during construction, the windows are evenly spaced across that deck.

More importantly, even if the Olympic sank instead of Titanic, then Titanic continued serving as an ocean liner and troop ship and hospital ship for two decades, so what was the point of the fraud?

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

To your last point, the reason was that the Olympic was dealing with some manufacturing issues and couldn’t be insured unless it was basically rebuilt for a new inspection.

Instead of rebuilding it, they secretly renamed it the Titanic so it could be insured fraudulently under the Titanic’s insurance, then intentionally sank it to claim the insurance on it. Now they have a good ship (the real Titanic) which will pass inspection as the Olympic, and they have the insurance payout from the sunken Olympic which shouldn’t have been able to be insured.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

Olympic was rammed by a warship which was why she was in dry dock at the same time as Titanic.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 2 months ago (2 children)

IIRC: Olympic couldn't be insured as it was involved in a collision with HMS Hawkeye; and was found at fault by the Royal Navy. There was also damage that couldn't really be repaired resulting in an permanent slight port list and it was a floating legal liability. Titanic was insured for double its worth after this and White Star was owned by noted scumbag JP Morgan. Olympic was also being repaired at the same shipyard Titanic was being built at, making a switch that much easier.

My opinion: They swapped the boats in the yard to pass regulatory inspection for Olympic, then swapped back if there's any truth to this.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

Titanic was under insured so there’s no way they were making any money back by her sinking…

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 months ago

And now they’ve snared another one

[–] [email protected] 36 points 2 months ago (2 children)

My theory is that the Titanic actually is the long lost Ship of Theseus, just with all the parts replaced hundreds of times.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

The ship of theseus was actually a spaceship used by the precursors to reach earth. It was broken down into components which were then reused in human ships both to hide the truth and as part of a secret seafaring cult ritual.

The piece on the titanic accidentally activated during its maiden voyage and attempted to take the ship to the precursor base in Altantis, but since Atlantis was sunk, it took the ship under and crashed into the seafloor.

It was later recovered by the us military in a covert operation disguised as a civilian project and was a key component in winning the space race.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

Ooo! I like this. Let's spread this as the new conspiracy.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 months ago

It’s a fun theory, but weren’t dishes and other artifacts stamped or embossed with “Titanic” recovered from the wreck?

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 months ago

I think there was originally some confusion because graphics of the sistership were reused for news reporting because they thought it was close enough.

[–] [email protected] 33 points 2 months ago (1 children)

This would imply that the captain and navigation crew intended to crash, which none of the evidence indicates.

[–] [email protected] 47 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The captain receives a moment of clarity as he gasps at the merciless cold consuming his body entire, water flooding into his torso as his life gently bubbles from his mouth. “My portfolio is secure” he thinks.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Wait did the captain go down with the ship? I thought the crew was mostly able to escape.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Yup*, captain’s cadaverific. I can’t recall anything about the rest of the crew.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I read this a decade ago on reddit. It's one of the only conspiracy theories that I actually think isn't so crazy.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 months ago

There is a great (2-part, I think) series by Oceanliner Designs on YouTube that disproves this theory quite conclusively

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 months ago

I posted it less because of the conspiracy theory itself and more because of what the person thought was conclusive evidence.

[–] [email protected] 43 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I mean, having either White Star Line or J.P. Morgan involved in insurance scams is rather believable … every good conspiracy needs a grain of truth …

[–] [email protected] 24 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Maybe, but 'I pointed an arrow at a window' is not the most compelling evidence.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 months ago

Looks like a deck scupper for letting water drain out is missing too
