They also make filling up your gas tank an even more unbearable experience.

I think it’s the second button on the right, you can nearly always mute any commercial at the pump.

That takes about seventy years plus bloodshed and the history about it being whitewashed so it doesn’t seem that bad and someone else does it.

They didn't donate enough this election year. This is a warning to all other corpos to pay up.

Or, you know, a good thing happened.

God damn. You people can't be happy about anything ever, for any reason.

Justice dept also clarified in the same press release that, "Water is wet" and the sky is still currently blue.

Water also destroys magnets! Get them wet, BOOM, no more magnet! /s

While I totally agree with you, fun semantic question, is water wet, or does it only make other things wet?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

Water is wet The concept of wet is embodied by water, but doesn’t get wet, itself.

idk about you but when I get in the tub, I don't get wet. The water gets unreasonabroed.

So the crux of it is the definition of wet. A couple definitions: "covered or soaked with a liquid such as water" or "Not yet dry or firm". While you could maybe argue water is "not yet dry", that also implies the expectation that it will at some point be which it won't, because if it's "dry" it's not water anymore. Similarly water is not "covered or soaked in a liquid" as it is a liquid. It's a subtle point but highlights a quirk of English. A liquid almost by definition can't be "wet" unless it also has a dry state (E.G. paint).

Water is covered in water.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 5 months ago (2 children)

They've only been letting them get away with it for over 20 years...

Yes but ticketmaster has been a menace for far longer and this could have been avoided by regulating them pre merger and not allowing them to become the monster they are. It's like Clear Channel, the government is letting these companies run wild.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Manhattan, was being brought with 30 state and district attorneys general and seeks to break up the monopoly they say is squeezing out smaller promoters and hurting artists.

The Justice Department says Live Nation also threatened to retaliate against one firm if it didn’t stop a subsidiary from competing for artist promotion contracts.

But competitor ticket sellers have long complained that Live Nation makes it difficult for them to disrupt the market with practices such as withholding acts if those venues don’t agree to use Ticketmaster’s service.

The lawsuit is the latest example of the Biden administration’s aggressive antitrust enforcement approach targeting companies accused of engaging in illegal monopolies that box out competitors and drive up prices.

In March, the Justice Department filed a lawsuit against Apple alleging that the tech giant has monopoly power in the smartphone market.

“Today’s action is a step forward in making this era of live music more accessible for the fans, the artists, and the industry that supports them,” Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco said in a statement.
