silly question and it's probably not possible but i wonder if there's a way to sync the sticky posts from this community on piefed too (or make this community more prominent on piefed) since ive been using the piefed instance more and more now that i got used to it. :^
Blahaj Lemmy Meta
Blåhaj Lemmy is a Lemmy instance attached to blahaj.zone. This is a group for questions or discussions relevant to either instance.
We don't have any stickied posts on lemmy at the moment, so there is nothing to sync, but as I understand it, they will sync fine
That being said, another thing you can do is turn on notifications for the community itself. That way, you'll get a notification whenever someone makes a new post (not comment) to the community. You can do the same thing with individual posts too, and get notifications whenever someone replies to a post, even if you didn't make the original post!
Post pinning should be fixed now between Lemmy and Piefed, so if the mods unpin/repin it it should work
but like in the main screen when you first go to the page where it lists all of your subscribed posts. sometimes on lemmy they would stick to the top from the meta subreddit. :^
the best part about it is the cute lil shark icon in the trans pride theme <3
lemmy could never
I tried to love that trans pride theme, but the nicest thing I can say about it is that I'm happy there is explicitly a trans pride theme :P
Is "threadiverse" a thing? It feels like it gives far too much influence to Threads. I've never heard the term. "Fediverse" is better, though maybe this is a specific subset of ActivityPub applications?
Threadiverse was a thing before Threads was a thing...
And it specifically refers to the subset of "reddit like" ActivityPub platforms, so it's more specific than Fediverse. Threadiverse instances are part of the Fediverse too, but they're quite distinct from Mastodon etc
Is "threadiverse" basically just fediverse (social) platforms that are thread-based (as opposed to, say, blog-based or some other federated type of thing)?
Like, if fediverse & thread conversation, then is threadiverse?
Exactly that!
Fair enough. I'd never heard that term before for some reason, only fediverse.
is piefed like sharkey to misskey or glitch to mastodon? or is it something different all together? just wondering. i would love a differently developed lemmy so that would be great!
also just curious will piefed also eventually get downvotes disabled like here? i love getting rid of the toxicity of it :)
It's closer to a fork of lemmy that is cross-compatible through activitypub
Its not a fork at all; Its built from scratch.
Ohhh it’s piefed not pixelfed! My dumb ass was trying to login with pixelfed app -.-
Basically a message for Kaity, but I am getting a
ClientException: Request failed with status 400: Bad Request: {"error":"alpha api is not enabled"} , uri=https://piefed.blahaj.zone/api/alpha/user/login
when using the Interstellar App and wanted to bring it to your attention. Thanks <3
I'll check it out. See what this alpha API thing is all about.
Is the plan to switch to it permanently?
Not particularly. There is no migration path between lemmy and PieFed, so we're just spinning up two instances, and we'll see what happens
Apparently, some communities have had some success migrating, so there might be that possibility if that's the path you want to go down.
If that happens organically with enough communities, then it might be something we consider, but I'm not going to push people to uproot their communities if they don't have to.
Has anyone written about the functional differences between lemmy and piefed?
Neat! I'll have to play with it when I get the chance.
How does PieFed differ from Lemmy? At first glance, they seem like similar applications. Does it have any particular strengths or additional features I might want to try out?
The web site has a list of differences between Lemmy and PieFed:
- Comments with -10 score are collapsed by default.
- Communities are organized into topics. See https://piefed.social/topics.
- Image-heavy communities can have a tiled/masonry view, like https://piefed.social/c/[email protected]
- People who get downvoted a lot end up with a ‘low reputation’ indicator next to their name. You’ll know it when you see it.
- Hide all posts based on keyword filters.
- Keyboard shortcuts.
- Upvotes in meme communities do not add to reputation.
- Better UI design (somewhat subjective!)
- Improved hotness ranking algorithm (subjective)
- Voting is private.
- See also features for healthy communities.
- Each community has it’s own wiki. Demo
This list isn't exhaustive; one major feature that's not listed there is de-duplication, where reposts all get combined into a single post with a split comment section (one for each individual post).
People who get downvoted a lot end up with a ‘low reputation’ indicator next to their name. You’ll know it when you see it.
Cool, a women indicator
(The joke is Lemmy is sexist mods please don't ban me)
You're correct though.
Anybody who isn't the 'default' cishet able neurotypical white man is marginalised in society and even online, we're also attacked a lot.
Which is one of the reasons downvotes are disabled here. A policy I hope will carry over to PieFed.

Probably not, because we have downvotes disabled :)
Thank you, I was worried :3
