That reddit syntax doesn't work on Lemmy. Your comment is just a caret mess.
It works on sync so I just hit send :v
Yeah, Sync is dumb and still uses reddit markdown. Pisses me off. It'll even edit perfectly good Lemmy spoiler syntax and turn it into reddit syntax when you edit one of your comments! Ridiculous.
Preaching to the choir, now get the team getting to work on a 2d Zelda game.
Had anybody ever suggested otherwise? I'm assuming if there's any pressure to not use 2D, it's from game developers themselves because it's likely costlier/more labor intensive than just going with 3D. Otherwise, gamers just want to play good games, 2D or 3D doesn't matter.
I mean yeah, you have to be conscious of how much time and effort you have to invest in a game. And they're ultimately trying to make a profit.
It's hard to match 2D and 3D art styles, and comes with a whole host of other technical challenges mixing 2D and 3D.
Don't get me wrong, it's a fun concept. But it's not at all necessary, and sometimes high up people don't pay attention to or even know what they're asking of their developers to do.
Seems like a pretty dated take
Why, because you were born in the late 90s and have been convinced by marketing that people only want FPS games?
2d games are alive and well and always will be. Quit trolling.
Completely missed my point but go ahead and make assumptions anyways rather than asking :D In a post Indie boom world where games like Hollow Knight and Pal-world can dominate the market there isn't a stigma with players about 2D or 3D and hasn't really been since about the 2000's. Hence it's a pretty dated take if Nintendo's management or IGN are seeing this as a hot topic.
Well that’s a completely different point that it read like you were making, and I do agree with your clarification!
TBH, it’s surprising it took until the Wii for Nintendo to learn this lesson on console.
Heck, the GBA didn’t even have an original Mario Playformer.
Was a puzzle platformer rather than pure platformer, but I think Mario vs Donkey Kong might count?
