Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

"Trump lied" and "Shock" should never, ever be in the same headline. What the actual fuck, it's what he does, constantly, forever now.

It's okay that Trump destroys Medicare. In about two weeks he will reveal his "Trump Care" plan that he has been working on since his former time at the Whitehouse. Yep, about two weeks. /s

I'm shocked that people are really shocked about his actions.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 7 hours ago

They're not shocked that he lied, they're shocked that he lied to them. As long as his lies only impact other people, they literally cheer and praise the lying.

It’s only the “low information voters” really. Unfortunately that’s most voters.

Did he lie or did his voters not pay attention?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 hours ago

They want to get lied to.

I’ll take things that we said would happen for $500

Trump lying counts as "shocking"? Really?

Really?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 13 hours ago

And doesn't include tax exemption for retirees.

Remember whenever someone says the bill made "cuts" to remind them our spending will increase under this bill.

DOGE only found like $150b in "savings". And chances are that it'll be a net negative because of cuts to the IRS that would've caught more tax cheats.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

itll increase the deficit by something like 4 trillion. because the tax cuts to the fucking rich are that high.

[–] [email protected] 42 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (1 children)

Increased military spending, tax cuts to the rich/old, increasing funding for deportations, the "Golden Dome" project that is about 100bil that will dissapear into top secret contracts, and increased welfare for red states.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Just read over a summary. This is going to be so bad.

[–] [email protected] 56 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Anyone who is paying attention isn’t shocked. Must say though, 1/2 a trillion is a-lot of dough considering no one is talking about reducing the Medcaid/care tax.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

The tax will cover the tax cuts on people who already have an obscene amount of money.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 hour ago

It will not, actually. This bill is far from budget neutral. The tax breaks for rich people are so massive that they far outweigh the big cuts to vital social programs. This bill will grow the deficit by trillions of dollars over the next decade.
