I have one of these on my coffee table that’s decoration. Found it just laying in some room when I visited the Vatican in the 90s. Weird.

The silver hammer of Saint Maxwell.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago

Clearly an anti zombie tool. Can't have the pope rising from the dead, it'd mess up the church's image.

Hit him once. If he is silent, hit him again. If he is silent again, hit him again. If he remains silent, he is dead.

Hit him once. If he shouts, you've got two more swings to make him stop.

The papal tappy taps

[–] [email protected] 56 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

It's a silver hammer, so it could also check if the Pope is a werewolf.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

Check the bathroom window for finger prints.

[–] [email protected] 43 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Can't let that happen again.

I would rather quit while am ahead?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Well you have to be sure. I wonder where they keep the Pope hammer in between deaths

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

In the popemobile trunk. Obviously...

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He carries it under his pointy hat

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

The Hammer of Pope-o-cles.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Maybe the pope gets a bonk every day to ensure that he is, in fact, still alive?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

Only if he's sleeping VERY soundly.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 weeks ago

Could be, it's the only bonk he'll get

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

This little hammer reminds me of one from the black company books where a group of assassins after they kill someone use a cerimonial hammer to break their bones and burry them in a tiny hole so fast they often go unnoticed

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I prefer the Holy Ball-Peen.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

Looks like a scaling hammer, like you'd use to knock the scale off a weld. Maybe an allusion to Saul/Paul and scaly eyes?

[–] [email protected] 31 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

my favourite fact is that “factoid” doesn’t mean “little fact” but is actually starting to mean that

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago

In this case it seems to fit pretty well.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

What does it actually mean?

Edit: Nevermind, @jerkface already answered.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

That is some Guilliman level artifact

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

unconfirmed is not debunked

i like how, by changing one letter, you've created a new compound verb that basically translates to "halfway into the action of falling asleep"

I wish I wasn't at work on mobile... I really want to take that chart of hammers posted on Lemmy a few days ago and add the dead pope hammer lol

[–] [email protected] 20 points 2 weeks ago (6 children)

Sloppy job on mobile, but here:

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

I feel like some of those are not blunt weapons, still, quaterstaff!!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

It's perfect! Pope-tato masher is amazing lol

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

I really want a flanged mace

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

I bought one of those at Harbor Freight for like ¼ the price the Vatican probably paid.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Yeah but it breaks after hitting 2 popes

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago

that's still a good 40-50 years of use!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

Still cheaper to replace when it breaks than the Snap-On one.
