That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Original post by SoRedditHasAnAppNow:

Last night and video was posted on terrifyingasfuck about a woman who was sedated for a c-section and the physician put his penis in her mouth while she was under. He was recorded because the nursing staff put hidden cameras in as they were concerned about what he might be doing.

I tried to report it to reddit, but there wasn't a category that 100% matched. Regardless, I reported it as "non-consentual intimate content."

This morning I woke up to learn that reddit had reviewed the post and determined that it did not break reddit's site wide rules.

So that's it. Reddit condones rape videos. I knew this site had problems, but I never expected this.

Yet I just got a 3 day ban because I mentioned the song "killing in the name of" apparently a single word is enough for a censorship and a ban now.

I mean I assume just saying killing was enough, it's actually the second time I've had a ban for a single word saying the word Brexit in the UKCasual sub there got me a ban as well.

Edit my appeal against the song title was actually successful I do find it bad how one word again basically triggered it mind you.

its mostly bots, throughout my own reporting history, obvious violations were not considered violations at all, pretty obvious once they eliminated thier misinformation option.

Doesn't sound too bad compared to what used to be allowed

Man, and I got banned for telling Nazis to go kill themselves. But apparently rape is cool. Actually you know what?

Makes sense for that site, 100%

I'm on a similar boat. I just wished Trump to die. Didn't even say how.

[–] Lumelore@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 1 month ago

Yeah, I tried reporting blatantly transphobic and homophobic subs and got the same response as OP, which was really upsetting since not only were they pushing hateful rhetoric but they were also organizing harassment of individuals, some of which were minors.

I was more than happy to leave reddit when I discovered lemmy.

I got permanently banned for "Inciting violence" by telling protesters to leave their phones at home so they don't get tracked and that they were gassing people during the BLM protest, so "prepare accordingly." (meaning bring a mask or something). It was on a post where someone was specifically asking for tips for protesting too.

Tell me that place is not being run by Musk bros right now?

[–] palordrolap@fedia.io 13 points 1 month ago

Bad news for you: Spez loves Elon and his business ethos.

You remember how at one point Elon was beloved among nerds? A lot of that was fomented on Reddit, and a few haven't grown out of it yet.

Got banned from r/politics. In some post about Musk's sales tanking, I posted that he knew what's gonna happen but supported Trump anyway so he can live out his hatred towards those he considers inferior. I finished with "May he suffer and wince" and apparently that is "threatening violence against an individual" lmao

[–] Kookie215@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

A coulpe years ago I got a 3 day ban on twitter for telling MGT that I hope she got a boil on her butthole. I cracked myself up with that one, they accused me of threatening violence against her.

Some heros don't wear capes, but you can if you want to

[–] rustyfish@lemmy.world 97 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If you want something changed on Reddit, pass it on to the press. Back in the day they let sexually suggestive material of minors on their site because it gathered clicks. Did you guys forget r/jailbait?

They only stopped it when one of the mods got doxxed and it was reported in news articles.

I repeat: Reddit stopped pedo shit only because it generated negative attention.

I’m sure there are enough journalists out there who would love to write about Reddit allowing SA material on their website.

Wasnt the ceo of reddit the mod for that?

[–] modus@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

No it was violentacrez

Damn i never really noticed how fucked his eye were untill i did this.

[–] breakingcups@lemmy.world 28 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Some context so we don't wade into misinformation territory here: in the earlier days any mod on a subreddit could add any other user as a mod, without their consent or knowledge.

There's plenty of true bad stuff to witch hunt that asshole for, let's not get ourselves dismissed for being gullible people who'll twist anything to fit our narrative.

[–] k0e3@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm being pedantic here, but I don't think you can "witch hunt" based on "true bad stuff" because witch hunt means persecuting on unsubstantiated evidence.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

The implication that he participated in moderating the sub is unfounded though.

[–] RightHandOfIkaros@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

I mean, this is Lemmy. Not exactly a paragon of avoiding spreading misinformation. But I appreciate your integrity nonetheless.

Spez would have been notified still, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he disabled or turned off notifications, even deleting them without reading them or never reading them at all. Most high profile people do that, including CEOs that use their own service or product.

[–] chaogomu@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago

A small correction, you could make anyone a mod of your subreddit, but they would be notified.

And spez stayed a mod for a long time before that sub was banned.

No, of course not. But they couldn't say no, because of the implication

[–] Kookie215@lemmy.world 66 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Nobody reviewed it thats why, the entire moderation system is being run by bots and like 3 humans.

[–] oxysis@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

3 humans is really generous, it has to be just 1 person overseeing all the bots with how much horrendous shit flies over there.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 15 points 1 month ago

And that one person is just Steve Huffman jerking it to rape videos.
