Got the parts to fix my air conditioner in my car, and a used phone, and a retro handheld I had been putting off.

All used, of course. I'm not contributing back to this corrupt hell government.

A Japanese car. My old car had been steadily falling apart for the past year. Finally made the leap last week.

What if - hear me out - Trump is gonna hold world by the balls, waving tariffs, and then canceling them. It is not only gonna boost spending, but also put more money in the billionaires pockets.

Wait, that's not right either!

I bought a gaming PC that should be future proof to at least 4 years

Nothing, I'm not buying anything special from that country they can fuck off.

Slowly but surely we will move all our ongoing needs away from the USA and back within the EU fully, so that they can burn in their own little corner of the dark ages as they desire, while we continue to live in present day.

It's one thing to say Fuck the US. It's another to say fuck Americans.

Sadly, I have no way to import a KMR L--02 Orca OR, since the ATF makes it such a pain in the ass to import onsey-twosey, and the tariffs mean that if they ever get a US distributor, it's going to be out of my price range.

But I did get a CZ Shadow 2 Compact a week ago, and that's going to be my carry and competition gun for however long these tariffs last.

I'm going to have to get a few pounds of powder, primers, and a few thousand bullets (the projectile part), because all of that is going in increase in costs, too. I was quoted a price of $315 or so for 8# of Vihtavouri N-135 powder; I'll probably try to get 16-24#, 15,000 small rifle primers, and at least 8-12# of Ramshot Silhouette powder. About half of the raw materials to make bullets--lead, copper, brass, nitrocellulose, etc.--end up being imported, because we simply can't keep up or don't have the mines.

[–] derpgon@programming.dev 2 points 1 month ago

Czech here, also own the CZ Shadow 2 (full size), it is such a pleasure to shoot.

[–] andxz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Vihtavuori, lol.

[–] RBWells@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

We got a refrigerator. Needed one anyway but rushed it a couple months back because I saw the writing on the wall.

Miller trailblazer 330. I scrounged and worked ot like a mad man to buy it before this bs started cause paying an extra 3-4k just because. Well fuck that.

[–] Toes@ani.social 8 points 1 month ago

I bought some computer parts even though I don't live there. Just cause I expected it to be worse soon.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

I can't really think of anything I need that will be problematic when the tariffs drop. I do have a hankering for French cookware, but at the same time, I don't NEED more French cookware. ;)

Plan is the same as before Trump's stupidity... pay off debt. Plan to be out of debt (except for the mortgage) by end of year.

[–] singletona@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago

Bold of you to assume i have money.

[–] letsgo@lemm.ee 55 points 1 month ago (2 children)

None, because I don't live in a country with an orange moron at the helm.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 13 points 1 month ago

My PC just started taking shits last week. I'm fucken upset I have no time.

[–] Hyrulian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I'm still running a Ryzen 5 3600 and a 3060ti. I can't afford to upgrade right now, so if my PC takes a shit during tarrif hell I'm going to use my Steam Deck as my main PC until living becomes affordable again, then maybe someday a new PC will.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca -2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

fucken

Short for 'fuckeng'?

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I do have to say, I never really enjoy your replies to me. They're all like this

Quip or correction someone else already made.

Lol

[–] pivot_root@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Look for used parts or machines recycled as part of a corporate hardware refresh. They won't be top of the line, but it's better than paying double the price for something that's already expensive.

[–] gnomesaiyan@lemmy.world 22 points 1 month ago (1 children)

looks at my RX580 I got pre-Covid

softly Don't.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

Eh thats not really fair to my build.

What I should say is Microsoft has decided that my E2550 (or whatever) Killer WiFi is actually an E1100 and every day I gotta uninstall the drivers and restart. I added a dword to the registry so fingers crossed.

But god dammit I want a build with no Nvidia so bad. I wanna rock a Battlemage just to say I have a Battlemage cause I'm dumb like that.

So believe in that RX580 its got this for 10 more years (just dont play new games by then).

[–] daggermoon@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Have you tried reinstalling Windows? Probably a dumb question.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Its an issue with Microsoft delivering the drivers, from what I can tell my registry edit fixed it.

[–] gnomesaiyan@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I totally get it. It still runs great, but it's showing its age, that's for sure. I tried Enshrouded, but it was a slide show once I got out of the starter cave with lowest settings. At least it runs Satisfactory and that's okay with me.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Get real into Space Station 14 or BAR and you'll forget about new GPUs. Both those games are open source.

[–] miguel@fedia.io 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I feel that. I'm currently using a laptop from like 2017 (with a 1050) and honestly... if it dies, I'm pretty well hosed.

[–] singletona@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm using a desktop that's an off lease machine I bought in 2016 that was new in 2012 (haswel architecture.)

about the one thing I HAVEN'T replaced on it is the power supply and fans. It's been a pretty good box.

I can't afford to get any real last-minute stuff, unfortunately. What I did do was stock up on rice and the spices that I largely use, and got some new shoes from walmart earlier than I normally would.

I put off the things I had been saving for (like a vero v), canceled everything but my basic phone service, and I'll be seeing how much stuff I can get by with repairing/cobbling.

What's sad is that the billionaires who control the only grocery options for 90 miles will be getting a LOT more of my income, and the small businesses (music stores, thrift stores, things like that) will be getting left. Thereby amplifying the wealth extraction already happening.

F this, and f everyone who voted for it.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Do you have a garden share anywhere near you? We have some towns near us where you can rent a plot that's like 20'*20' for $10 a plot.

A few from further out only plant low maintenance crops that they tend to on a weekend, or have met someone who happily lends a hand on a day when they can't come.

Gardening is not only a good way to grow savings, it's also fun! It can be a lot less work then some people realize.

[–] miguel@fedia.io 3 points 1 month ago

That's a good suggestion, and I will look
