Summary

Ted Cruz warned that Trump’s tariffs could trigger a GOP "bloodbath" in the 2026 midterms, citing inflation and market fallout as major risks.

On his Verdict podcast, Cruz criticized tariffs as taxes on consumers and urged they be short-lived.

The S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 plunged nearly 10% over two days. Senator Rand Paul and others echoed concerns, with Paul warning tariffs could add $5,000–$15,000 to car prices.

Senator Chuck Grassley has introduced a bill requiring congressional approval of tariffs within 60 days or automatic expiration.

From Cancun, you can say so many things!

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 week ago

Good fuck all y'all bitch ass motherfuckers

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago

They fucking better or we’re perma-fucked, not just fucked for the next decade like now.

Fuck.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago

And that's all he cares about.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Can’t wait until the day he, Paxton, and Abbott are gone for good from Texas. We need more like Jasmine Crockett to fill the void once those fuckers are ate.

I don't know why they are so worried, Trump has toppled all the heads of government agencies with loyalists. They will be well prepared to finish their transition towards authoritarianism in the midterms, although they will have a lot more to worry about before they even get there.

The feds have less control over blue state elections (although just ignoring the results is always an option), but red state governments will probably fall in line and throw out any results they don't like.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

...except for the gerrymandering.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

All that is balanced around a certain amount of voter apathy. My district is one of the most unbalanced in a state that has had its district map declared unconstitutional multiple times. The last election had less than 25% of registered voters participate.

Those maps can backfire badly, but it will take a lot of motivation.

Eat shit, Rafael, you stupid turd.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago

It's more than likely true because this shit always blows up in their faces, but it won't matter if all we do is elect more milquetoast Zionist corporate Dems. If that happens, we will end up right back in this same spot in a few years.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago

Like there will ever be another actual untampered with election.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Wouldn't that be nice if it were true.

[–] [email protected] -5 points 1 week ago

How?

Nobody on the left is really working to spread any messages. A few comments per person isn't doing shit. Seems like the most that can be mustered is a little property damage. Any voice that stands up to help spread ideology gets targeted by the right and knee capped. The mind blowing thing is the right actively hide online among the left convincing them to knee cap these people. I just saw a post a few weeks ago shitting on Jon Stewart here.

How exactly are they going to lose against a neutered and apathetic opposition

If we give Cancun Ted the benefit of the doubt (something I am loathe to do for any MAGA Nazi), then perhaps he is truly warning HitlerPig of the electoral consequences of this economic folly.

In reality, I am 100% positive that HitlerPig will hear it as a call to suspend the mid-term elections.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

Donvict Dementia is concerned with pleasing Daddy Vladdy and golfing. He cares not for Texas or Americans, Raphael.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Please let a literal bloodbath consume the Republicans

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I'm imagining Trump's tariffs as them taking the lid off the ark of the covenant, let's hope it does to all the other Republican Nazis today what it did to the Nazis then.

[–] [email protected] 28 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Again, Republicans are worried about their own jobs and power, not about any of the problems of the working American family, the average white fucking American family that voted for this btw.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It dont matter to this mf, t*xas will still elect republicans, republicans can kill their dogs, send their kids to the mines and rob them for all they have and they would STILL vote for them to own the libs.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 week ago

The people of Uvalde reelected the sheriff that let all those elementary students be murdered and tortured.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 week ago

Please let this blubbering shitbag be included in that bloodbath.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

Elections... ha! Obviously Trump is keeping him outside the loop on future plans.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago
[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

Stop it Rafael, I can only get so erect.

[–] [email protected] 43 points 1 week ago (2 children)

His big worry is re-election, not the people this will hurt.

I'm glad to see that people here aren't reveling in looming economic disaster just because it might mean that their team gets to be in power.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago

In a properly designed and functioning system, reelection and caring about the people should go hand in hand. Stop caring, treat them like crap, someone gets to replace you.

We are not in a well designed, well functioning system.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

And the people are still cheering him on, swinging their fat fists, because they don't want to lose to the blue team.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago

doesnt matter if you're a reptilian that migrates to cancun to shed your skin.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

I fucking hate Ted.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

In the elections, right?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I’m going to go devils advocate here… first Rand Paul, now Ted Cruz. When things break they’ll break quick, and as distasteful as both of these guys are, they’re not the dumb ones like Grassley, Bobert, or MTG. They smell something in the wind or they wouldn’t have the courage to speak out. Could we be witnessing the beginning of a schism?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Yup. I phoned my friend just to say I called it too

Musk spent 10s of millions on a state supreme Court election, like 10x the campaign spending of the other side, and lost

If musk and Trump can't influence elections, their threats of primarying anyone who steps out of line is empty. Their support won't save their seats either

People are so angry they can't even appear in public without being screamed at... And what happens the next day? Trump destroyed the global economy single handedly and went golfing

There's some true believers... But mostly, Republicans are going to do what keeps them in power. And the Trump-Elon power couple isn't it... Even the media has started to back away from propogandizing their actions

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Even if you're right this movement is far from critical mass yet. I'm thinking at least one month will have to pass before there is enough pressure for Congress to even vote on taking back the tariff power .

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

True, and a lot of damage would be done in that time too.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

they are vultures, they are hoping enough damage is done where they can sitll grift and then they will swoop in.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 week ago

First. Fuck Ted Cruz. Second. It’s not just tariffs you fucking dumb cunt. It’s the whole toxic and traitorous Republican Party.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago

It seems we are going back to 1933 again, now all that is missing is a president like FDR and having three or four terms.
