I really need to clean my apartment, it's gotten pretty messy.

Switching from Youtube to GrayJay on both desktop and mobile permanently
Interesting. This GrayJay?
Bingo! It's an app which fetches videos from multiple sources like Youtube, Odysee, Rumble, Twitch, Kik, etc etc, and you can also select which sources would you want to search from and in which priority order. For example if an X youtuber also uploads his videos on Odysee and you prefer that source more, then that video will be shown from Odysee in your feed.
That's pretty cool. Thanks!
Both of us?
Both was a bad choice. Should have gone with "simultaneously". It means something you need to do AND are avoiding doing it.

Building my home server. I have all the parts but the sheer amount of different ways to set it up and all the things I need to learn to keep it safe. Especially now that all that (waves hand around) is happening, it’s so important I get on it. It kinda makes me want to cry. My brain isn’t as sharp now that menopause has hit, remembering things is really hard. Though my dr got me on a different regime of my adhd meds so hopefully that will help. Anyways, sorry for the ramble.
*I have looked at the self hosted and privacy communities, I think I’m going to go with Yunohost. It’s the internet part I’m worried about more.
Do your services need to be reachable from outside right from the start? If not, get yourself comfortable with hosting, maintaning and backing up the server. Automate your backups as much as possible and recover at least once from a full backup to check everything!
This should give you a solid baseline to then think about exposing your services, which is arguably the scariest part, but can come afterwards.
Thank you for your response! That’s really good advice. I can hold off for a bit, Joplin is my main service that I’ll need to be able to reach, but can keep using Dropbox to sync for now.
One thing that I haven’t quite sorted is our todos. We use Todoist right now, and it’s really great, but would like something self hosted. I haven’t found anything that has both an iOS and android app though, except Nextcloud. Any suggestions? I was contemplating just using Nextcloud to start to keep things simple, and then adding different services later, but Yunohost seems like a better solution.
I assume you tried using Joplin as a to-do list app? IIRC it worked, but was too fiddly with the square brackets.
Tasks.org is an open-source to-do list app working with multiple providers. On first glance, CalDAV and EteSync might be something for you (ignore DAVx⁵ as it's a worse CalDAV).
As for me I'm using CalDAV my mail provider mailbox.org is providing me together with Tasks.org on Android and Thunderbird on desktop.
Maintenance (already paid for) on both my motorcycle and car. I don't want to drive a motorcycle in the snow, but I have to use it before time runs out (it's +/- 3 months, I think). The car is due in April. I'm delaying making the reservations until next week when I get the results from some medical tests and get others done to figure out WTF is wrong with my body.
taxes, bills, other bullshit. The amount of mental energy it takes to even get going is insane.
I need to take my clothes out of the washing machine and dryer but my bed is so comfy.
Figure out the cottage laws in the state now its legal. The process makes my wiggly brain hurt.
Figure out what's wrong with my car. Taking it to a shop is probably too expensive and figuring it out myself is too daunting of a task. It sometimes dies when I'm slowing to a stop, and I have to put it in park and restart it. Sometimes it's hard to start and then the tachometer stays at zero even though the engine is running.
I had something intermittent like this, and it turned out that I had a cracked distributor cap. It turned out to be a stupidly easy repair, and not a very expensive part.
Edit: this was a car as ancient as I am. I'm not sure modern cars even have that part, anymore.
Had the same exact problem with my car. When I slowed down the car taking a turn or at a stop light it would lose power and shut off.
Chances are very good the throttle body just needs to be cleaned. This as I discovered is one of the most common causes of this problem.
Basically it's the valve that opens and closes to feed air into the engine. When you press the accelerator the throttle body opens up and when you take your foot off of it it starts to close. After awhile, gunk blocks the edges of the opening so the engine doesn't get enough air to make the little explosions that move the pistons.
Take off a few covers and detach a few hoses to get to the throttle body, spray throttle body cleaner and scrub the edges of the throttle body clean and the car was good as new.
You can do this yourself for the cost of a can of throttle body cleaner and some basic tools like old toothbrushes/rags, channel lock pliers, socket wrenches and screwdrivers. Even if you don't have the tools you can borrow some for free at your local O'Reilly, AutoZone, or whatever car parts shop you got in your area. Just tell them what you need, leave your credit card with them and they'll return it to you when you're done with the tools.
Search YouTube for "clean throttle body " and you will find a ton of videos showing you step by step how to do it.
Just an example:

I'm a guy that doesn't even know how to change my own oil and I was able to do it in about an hour my first time after getting the supplies and watching the video along the way.
Don't be intimidated this stuff is waaaaay easier to do than you might think and it'll save you a huge wad of dough and give you peace of mind :o
I'd add some fuel injector cleaner. The fuel injectors might be gummed up and when it gets to low rpm it starves the engine of fuel.
Surely there's a mechanics advice community here somewhere? They could at least get you started on troubleshooting.

Man if I start listing them I'll go over lemmy's word limit
Filing my taxes.
File them now.
If you have refund, claim immediately.
If you owe... then you can decide to wait
I filed 2 weeks ago and haven't received my refund yet. I know that's not that long, but I'm still starting to get worried it just wont come at all.
You know, e-file is instant.
You could even do it on the irs website (at least before Jan 20 you could).
Welp, if you don't hear back, at least you know you don't owe anything.
Yea, they instantly accepted the return and luckily I did get to use the free service. I am owed a refund this year so now im just waiting.
Did you give your bank info, or waiting for a check?
Checks takes forever, direct deposit is usually within a month.
It was direct deposit. Im still within the time frame of the return, im just overly anxious about it this year for obvious reasons.
If you owe, just wait. Trump will likely dissolve the IRS soon enough, anyway.
So... no more strongly worded letters or lawsuits

Colonoscopy.
You can poop in a bag and mail it instead now.
These are not the same thing. Yearly health checks in Japan usually collect two stool samples. I actually was ordered to get a colonoscopy because of the results of those tests to look for things.
Those only detect actual cancer. Getting the butt probe can also find ulcers and pre-cancerous polyps.

PTA stuff. I thought I had the time, but the job changed, the kids became more maintenance, and fuck 47.
Taxes. I had a handful of stock events last year, and it's always a massive pain to try to transcribe the values in the forms they give you into the tax tools.
