People are dumb, and I'm pretty sure we see this in every countries. The sources of those fake news are often from China/Russia, they have thousands of trolls posting fake news on social media, and gullible conservatives share them.

Back when gay marriage was the topic de jour, people I knew IRL were bitching about the slippery slope of getting to marry turtles.

Turns out, after a little digging, I found that the origin was either Mike Huckabee or Bill O'Reilly. It's as if people can't or won't try to understand things.

A shame that the origin wasn't Elaine Chao. She ACTUALLY knows what being married to a turtle is like.
