The dude that never went to in-n-out

Behold the superior hamburger, ye mighty, and despair:

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Their burgers are bomb AF, I'll admit that, but my two complains from them are 1) they're small, we're used to big Whataburgers here so I practically have to get two of them and 2) their fries, yes it's oversaid but their fries are just different and not always in a good way. Though I will say they do taste better if you get a salt packet and pour it on.

In-n-out is mid and their fries are like cardboard.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 days ago

Yes, but to be fair, it's peak mid. Most other chains do a worse job on burgers, and to do better, you have to go substantially upmarket.

Name better fast food at a comparative price.

Lmao 🤣 can't take this guy seriously after this

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Ah yes, Five Guys. Where the fries turn into a pile of greasy mush if not eaten within the first five minutes your order is ready. But you've completed that task, you're now full-up on fried potato, but now your burger is cold or at best half eaten. Nobody should have to eat with the gusto of a professional contestant just to make the most of things. It's a meal that conspires against itself, every single time.

If you skip the fries, the burgers are actually pretty good and can enjoy it at any pace.

I'm sorry you're too used to frozen preserves potatoes from Sysco or other manufacturers of potato-like rectangles to appreciate real fries.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

Fresh-cut, single-cooked fries are the worst kind. Soft, greasy, unsatisfying.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Five guys is triple the price if not more.

[–] [email protected] -3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Not in the West Coast. Both are about ~7 for the base burger and cap out at about ~12 for the highest menu item without extras.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

50 USD for 2 people to eat at five guys. Case closed

[–] [email protected] -2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

...about $30, you mean. I mean if you're trying to go for 2k+ kcal per person you'd hit 50+,but a normal person would have a hard time eating more than 15$ of five guys.

Or maybe you think a "cheeseburger" is too big. Let me get you the smallest combinations of fry+burger+drink on the whole menu. $17.30 here.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago

Or maybe you are fat and want large fries, burger and a shake. $25.11

[–] [email protected] -3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

That's a full 3$ more than it is on the West Coast. Sorry you guys have a higher cost of living.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

More expensive in Atlanta than the one I linked.

Dallas TX has even higher prices than atlanta.

No idea what kind of "west coast" area you're in that things are cheap. Usually COL is nuts there... but the coast is thousands of miles so...

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

...those areas are not on the West Coast. Pull up Portland and cry.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Been there. Cheaper than Boston but not really cheap.

Image is from 8 months ago of the 1200 NE Broadway, Portland, OR 97232 location. It's 9.99 for a cheeseburger. 4.49 for a little fry. 2.09 for a regular drink. $16.57 even considering 0% sales tax in portland.
