MODERATORS

When scrolling Lemmy (compared to reddit in the past), all I see is doom and gloom / news. I don't see interesting conversations or comments to read.

Occasionally I'll find something, and I've been contributing more, but there's just so much doom that it fills my feed.

I've had to unsubscribe from many communities bc it's just doom news reposts..

Is it just me?

Agreed. This trend is "block things that make me uncomfortable" is a tragedy of the commons thing. Sure, you made YOUR feed better, but you've ceded the commons to the stuff you hate.

Blocking someone does not silence them. It just means you personally have put your fingers in your ears.

Idk. My mental health has been a lot better since I blocked the words rape and torture from my feed. I know that stuff is happening. I don't need constant details and pictures of the victims daily. A sub about the war is for that stuff. My adding uplifting things to that community would be inappropriate. It's better for me to remove myself.

If you think lemmy is constant, unfiltered, in your face rape and torture, then you need to adjust the weird shit you've subscribed to.

Also, I have no idea what client wouldn't blur nsfw images in thumbnails, but you should fix that too.

I'm not subbed to anything. I just take the regular home feed. It's all the posts about the war crimes in Gaza and the Ukraine.

Front page when not signed in. Literally zero nsfw, no war crimes, no violence.

I'm not saying all the posts are violent, I'm saying all the violent posts are from the wars, not from weird stuff I'm subbed to... Just world news.
