Welcome to Lemmy.fan!

This instance succeeds on one simple mantra: Be kind, and do unto others as you have done to yourself. Consider for a moment that we're ALL on the the same rapidly-spinning, mostly-watery orb, hurtling through space at fantastic speeds, and trading metal and paper for our livelihoods. The unknown will always dwarf the known. Learning never ends. We may be experts in something, but no one person is an expert in all things.

Given that, here our are very simple

Rules

Facts based in reality and science are not debatable.

Opinions are great, just be ready to back yours up with a solid foundation of factual information and/or research.

No NSFW communities are allowed to be created on this instance.

Community creation is encouraged so long as it is actively moderated.

Donations are not being accepted or expected. This rule may change IF the instance grows beyond current capacity. Please enjoy an ad-free, donation-free social media experience.

Lastly, negative behaviors such as trolling, harassment, stalking, brigading, and other offensive behaviors as judged by the instance admin(s) will not be tolerated. Immediate and permanent bans are issued for spammers, trollers, vote brigaders, stalkers, harassers, and those of similar ilk. All decisions will be made by the instance admin(s). Those decisions are final and incontestable.

That's the end of the boring but necessary stuff.

Summary

Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy reported nearly 500 drone attacks and over 20 missile strikes by Russia in the past week, calling it a “testing ground” for Russian weapons.

Russia launched 460 Shahed drones, produced in domestic factories, which, though cost-effective and easier to neutralize, strain Ukraine’s air defenses.

Recent attacks, including Russia’s use of the Oreshnik ballistic missile, escalate tensions.

Ukraine urges allies for more air defense systems, while debates over supplying Ukraine with long-range missiles and potential NATO membership intensify among Western nations.

I know Early Access can be a blight upon man sometimes, but this game is really making the best of it, and I wholeheartedly recommend it if you don't have it already.

Some of the younger folks won't understand this vibe, but older folks know what an exhausting beatdown they're in for if Florida goes from mildly surprising to consistently good. Our entire cultural DNA is based on a man who's basically a hillbilly Bugs Bunny.

Summary

AI is increasingly exploited by criminals for fraud, cyberattacks, and child abuse, warns Alex Murray, UK’s national police lead for AI.

Deepfake scams, such as impersonating executives for financial heists, and generative AI used to create child abuse images or “nudify” photos for sextortion are rising concerns.

Terrorists may exploit AI for propaganda and radicalization via chatbots.

Murray urged urgent action as AI becomes more accessible, realistic, and widely used, predicting significant crime growth by 2029.

Summary

  • Earth Estries, a Chinese APT group, has primarily targeted critical sectors like telecommunications and government entities across the US, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and South Africa since 2023.
  • The group employs advanced attack techniques and multiple backdoors, such as GHOSTSPIDER, SNAPPYBEE, and MASOL RAT, affecting several Southeast Asian telecommunications companies and government entities.
  • Earth Estries exploits public-facing server vulnerabilities to establish initial access and uses living-off-the-land binaries for lateral movement within networks to deploy malware and conduct long-term espionage.
  • The group has compromised over 20 organizations, targeting various sectors including telecommunications, technology, consulting, chemical, and transportation industries, as well as government agencies and NGOs in numerous countries.
  • Earth Estries uses a complex C&C infrastructure managed by different teams, and their operations often overlap with TTPs of other known Chinese APT groups, indicating possible use of shared tools from malware-as-a-service providers.

I was gifted an older beat up ex4300 MP-S following a round of equipment upgrades but I learned I cannot obtain Junos or j-web packages because of how junipers licenses work. Does anyone know of place to get them? I found some older images of a different switch on archive.org but that’s it. They wouldn’t even offer me a way to pay to get the license fixed. What a pain.

The Sake Viva! campaign, which is being run by the National Tax Agency (NTA), asks 20- to 39-year-olds to come up with proposals to help revitalise the popularity of alcoholic drinks, which have fallen out of favour because of lifestyle changes during the coronavirus pandemic and among young people.

Taxes on alcohol accounted for 1.7% of Japan’s tax revenue in 2020, down from 3% in 2011 and 5% in 1980.

There was a particularly steep decline in beer consumption, with sales volume down 20% to less than 1.8bn litres.
