Welcome to Lemmy.fan!

This instance succeeds on one simple mantra: Be kind, and do unto others as you have done to yourself. Consider for a moment that we're ALL on the the same rapidly-spinning, mostly-watery orb, hurtling through space at fantastic speeds, and trading metal and paper for our livelihoods. The unknown will always dwarf the known. Learning never ends. We may be experts in something, but no one person is an expert in all things.

Given that, here our are very simple

AbstractThe effect of degree of roast on resulting caffeine content in brewed coffee has been extensively researched, but conflicting methodologies and results have muddled development of a general conclusion. In this study, 30 unique combinations of green coffee variety, degree of roast, and brew time were investigated regarding extraction yield and caffeine content. An AeroPress brewer was used to prepare brew samples using a 15:1 mass ratio of brew water to ground coffee. Refractometry and HPLC were respectively used to measure extraction yield and caffeine content of brewed samples. Scanning electron microscopy was used to measure porosity of roasted seeds and showed increasing porosity with the degree of roast. Extraction yields generally decreased for roast batches with roasting mass losses greater than (\sim)12–14%, and caffeine concentrations in 10-min brews decreased for roast batches with drop temperatures greater than (\sim)400–420 (^{\circ })F. Under identical brewing conditions, caffeine concentrations in brewed samples were generally lower for dark roasts than light and medium roasts. However, at identical extraction yields, dark roasts generally exhibited higher caffeine concentrations than lighter roasted coffees. It is likely that the volatilization or decomposition of soluble compounds and increased porosity due to roasting act as competing mechanisms that determine compound concentrations in resulting brews.

Hey! ✌️

Open up for myself and want to share it with everyone this cool program to create LAN over Internet (P2P) -> https://gitlab.com/Monsterovich/lanemu/

I had success to create\join room but not chat, not ping ain't works for me

Does anybody had try it or could try? Maybe there's something blocking over NAT settings, don't know... I also don't get how it works over Torrent\DHT connection 🥲

Maybe any alternatives? I know Tailscale and NetBird, but maybe there's some more?

Thanks 😀👍

I have some very consistent issues with warping when printing ASA/ABS, which is really annoying since I'm trying to print my voron parts. It's not warping massively, but enough to mess things up.

I print with these general settings, on a textured PEI flex-plate.

  • heated chamber @ 45-47C (can't go much higher)
  • bed temp @105C
  • first layer 255C, other layers 245C
  • fan off, unless it's an overhang >=50% or layer time is <10s. Fan maxes out @70% unless bridging.
  • speed 200/120 mm/s inner/outer walls
  • first layer 50mm/s, 80mm/s infill

I've tried both with my regular Z-offset which creates a good uniform first layer, and slightly lower to kind of push it more on to the plate (but worse looking)

  • I've cleaned the plate with pure IPA
  • I've tried glue stick
  • I've tried brim both skirts/mouse ears, which help but don't eliminate it. (5mm, 0.15mm space)

ABS seems to be a little easier to print than the ASA. I'm using filament from Polymaker

Today's game is Silent Hill 2 Remake. I've been wanting to play this for a long time ever since i heard it was getting a remake. I was a bit worried about how it would perform on my Steam Deck, but everything seems to be going well. I haven't checked any average FPS but i have it capped at 30 and i am using FSR on balanced at 1600x900. There's some minor but noticeable stuttering, but at least up until the town it runs well. I want to spend this post more talking about the game itself, so i'm going to keep the screenshots light for this one.

The whole game looks pretty and is both fun and terrifying. Recent years must be a golden age for Horror Games or something because first Alan Wake II and then this (and from what i hear the RE4 remake is up there too). It's also funny to me that all these 2 game franchises involve a plot of a run of the mill Middle Aged Guy looking for their Wife (or at least Alan Wake I Alan).

I also i find this game amazing because, as someone who grew up in a Small American Town like this, they perfectly captured the feel of one. The way the streets are, the way the Street Lights are, the creepy alleys between houses. It all eerily reminds me of home. Silent Hill is a bit upper class then where i grew up, but it still strikes those chords uncomfortably well.

Specifically this shot:

And this shot:

Show what i mean.

On top of the town itself, the game manages to scare me really well. The fog leaves me on the edge of my seat, and the lying figures that crawl around terrify me. Something about them just really bothers me.

Other than starting Silent Hill 2, i also finished my crushing difficulty run of Uncharted 4. It was Brutal. The final boss could basically one shot me most of the time, which made it a challenge of perfectly parrying his attacks. It was a fun challenge to be sure. I wanted to share a few more screenshots from that. I'm not fully done (I need to get a journal entry and 6 more treasures, along with the speedrunning achievement), and plus i'm considering playing The Lost Legacy after SH2. so this may not be the last screenshot from it.

I don't want to draw the post out too long though so i'm just going to leave a few screenshots from that here:

"We need to bring this to a responsible end. We need to restore deterrence, restore peace, and get ahead of this escalation ladder, rather than responding to it," said Mike Waltz, Trump's pick for the influential role of US national security advisor (NSA).

In recent days, Washington has authorized Kyiv to use US-supplied missiles to strike targets in Russian territory and agreed to supply it with landmines, prompting Moscow to respond with the use of an experimental medium-range ballistic missile. Waltz, a noted foreign policy hawk and former US special forces officer, has been critical of Russia but has, like Trump, opposed increasing aid to Ukraine.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has in the past ruled out ceding any territory to Russia, and told Fox News on Tuesday that Ukraine would lose the war if Washington pulls funding. President Joe Biden's administration has promised a smooth transition to Trump, who has pledged major shake-ups on both foreign and domestic policy.

On Sunday, Waltz said he had met Biden's NSA Jake Sullivan and warned adversaries abroad against thinking they could gain an advantage in the months before Trump takes office in January. "For our adversaries out there that think this is a time of opportunity that they can play one administration off the other. They're wrong... we are hand in glove."
