I'm glad most of my dogs have been small enough to carry when they get old. I guess if they hadn't been, I'd just have to be a lot stronger so I could lift them. I mean, I'd obviously never leave them to sleep on their own after years of sleeping in my bed.

I work with local-level politicians and we constantly complain about the ones that don't do the reading. At our level, they nearly all have other jobs, so I get it, but we LOVE when they actually read what we give them and can ask relevant questions. It's a thousand times better than the ones that just sit there and embarrass themselves every time they open their mouths.

I have a sword (tbh it's kind of Spanish mall ninja shit, if the mall was a factory catering to tourists who want sharp souvenirs) and it's not even that big, but it's heavy. I know how many swords I can carry and the answer is one until I get tired. Then none.

Hard no. My day job is in government and I cannot take one more meeting in my life. I've attended some of the HOA meetings and they were actually worse than pretty much every meeting I have at work, because they last forever and the stakes are so stupid.

I finally got a 12 foot skeleton but our stupid HOA doesn't allow Halloween decorations before 10/1. I think I need a festive fall outfit for it so I can say it's not Halloween, it's just seasonal.

I tried a piece of kibble when I was a kid, mostly because it bothered my mom and I thought it was funny. It wasn't good, but it wasn't the worst thing I've ever eaten. Most of my dogs have eaten pretty much whatever you offer them, except (of course) my chihuahua. She'd eat buffalo sauce but not a carrot. When she lost all her teeth, she'd eat a flavor of wet food happily for like, a week, and then refuse to touch it ever again, so I don't think it was the food being gross as much as it was her being a picky little shit.

Right? The point she's making had zero to do with being a woman, and she didn't single out men, but some dudes really love to tell on themselves.

I enjoyed it. It's definitely a different feel than previous AC games, so if you go in hoping for that, you might be disappointed. I think it's definitely worth checking out, especially if you can get it on sale.

That's what I tried to do, and that's when it said to submit evidence. I was like, "uh, the evidence is that I was there when it happened and you can see from the profile that it's for a DOG," and they said that wasn't good enough. I just gave up. Her profile will outlast all of us, probably.

This is actually a thing I've experienced. The dog has been dead for 4 years. Obviously, I'm friends with my dog, so it reminds me of her birthday (couple days ago) and then I remember that this account exists and they won't let me delete it. I tried to report her as deceased and it wanted an obituary.

Disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourself. Wanting to feed the children without even making sure you get a solid day's work in the mines out of them first?! Teaching them to read wastes valuable time that they could be laboring, and it might give them ideas like, "wait I'm 8, maybe I shouldn't work 14 hours a day."

For me, agreed. I live in a desert, work a sedentary job, and spend the vast majority of my time freezing in the ac because I'm not warm unless it's like 76 degrees. My skin is happier if I skip a day and I try to save water whenever possible. But for other people, they know their stink levels better than me, and I'm not gonna tell anybody else how to wash themselves. Unless they're like my ex, taking 2 or 3 showers a day for literally no reason and running up the water bill in, again, a damn desert. I did tell him to knock that off.

I'm going to a conference next week and while they asked everyone for dietary preferences, I don't have high hopes based on experience (sure, I'd love another "salad" that's just iceberg with no dressing!), so I'm trying to plan ahead and bring some things with me so I don't starve. Unfortunately, the hotel room doesn't have a microwave, just a mini-mini-fridge and I'm bringing my small kettle, so I mostly have to stick to things that can be stored/eaten at room temp, or prepared with just hot water. So far, I have some soy curl jerky to take to long sessions, a couple of ramen bowls, and some bread and packets of almond butter, but I'm kind of out of ideas. There is a Trader Joe's within walking distance, so I can at least grab some fruit or salad when I get a chance, but is there anything else I'm not thinking of that I should pack and/or plan to buy? The conference is a full week, so I'd prefer not to eat crap (like the ramen) the whole time if I can help it.

Finally sprung for the 12lb bag because we love these things. I usually make buffalo soy curls and throw them on a salad or mac and cheese, or make lemon "chicken" orzo with them, but I'm open to other suggestions from anyone else who likes them since I have enough for about the next decade.

I looked up the ones he shows in the video and basically all of them are the equivalent of 30 year old participation trophies. He's posted the video on every city fb post for days, and he calls volunteering slavery every chance he gets. There's a reason his own political party disavowed him a couple of years ago.

This guy has been running for local office and losing every election cycle for years. His latest thing is that he is a victim the same way George Floyd was because DEI has made it hard to be a white man, I guess?

For the record, his "wife" literally left the country over a decade ago and I think his son has also moved to her country. The last picture he has with them is easily 15 years ago, so I don't think they really give a shit if anyone votes for him. Oh, also, they're Asian so he regularly refers to himself as a "person/father of color."

I don't do much handheld gaming, but I'm going to have some overseas flights and long-ish train rides later this year, and may also be having surgery that will keep me fairly bedbound for about a month. I'm just not sure how much money it's worth spending on a deck that I likely won't use much outside of those specific cases - I bought a switch when I got covid in 2020 and used it a ton at the time but I've only used it a few times since, though I miiight use a deck a bit more just because I already have a pretty extensive steam library.

Is it better to stick to the cheapest model or is there enough of a difference that it might be worth spending a little more for a nicer one?

Yeah, definitely don't put any of those profits toward a living wage though. Make your employees trauma dump for the chance at a few extra bucks! Probably comes as an Amazon gift card, too.
