It actually took me way to long to get the joke and I know what the John Birch Society is.
I don't get it....
John Birchers were the progenitors of modern American insane political conspiracy theory landscape - Alex Jones dad was one of them.
Fluoride is an evil communist plot, food stamps are an evil communist plot, being gay is an evil communist plot. Communists are everywhere and must be rooted out. Think about McCarthy’s famous list of all of the communists who were supposedly in office.
Anti communist right wing but job conspiracists that served as the putrid seed for the paranoia-driven post-truth alt-right shitbaggery which currently plagues the US.
The joke is about John Birchers seeing commies where there are none.
