Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). This is going to end up being the worst news and democrats always forget this. Trumps next pick will be worse. It’ll be somebody effective, but awful. He’ll find some MAGA nut job that’s basically hitler ideology with an actual law background and years on a bench. I was hoping dems would back Gaetz a bit because he’s so utterly stupid at least it would shield us for a while.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 days ago (6 children)

But now who will be the more dangerous but more palatable nominee that Gaetz was running a screen for?

In fairness, he probably said that to her, too, and she still ended up fucked.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Trump should have picked a Senator if he wanted to put a Pedo at AG. Nobody would be investigating a Josh Hawley or Ted Cruz nom.

huurrr hurr hurr

And just when I thought we wouldn't be getting any positive news for 4 years.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Wait until Trump announces his replacement before labeling this as good news

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago

I'm going to celebrate while I can, Trump will always pick someone worse. It doesn't matter who sinks them or why.

We learned that supporting the lesser evil is no longer an option with this last election. Maybe it's time we stood up for what's right and not what's close enough.

Gotta be something big to quit congress after being reelected and then decline the cabinet nomination used to justify pulling out.

This sounds like something serious. Someone should search his couches!

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 days ago

Vance will search them for free

[–] [email protected] 42 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

He quit to end the Congressional investigation. Was on his way out one way or another. This was just his attempt to fall upwards.

Maybe they'll add him to the DOGE roster after this. You can fuck all the teenagers you want over there and nobody will complain

To be clear, he resigned from current Congress. He was still reelected to next Congress.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 days ago

That would mean the report could be easily resumed or released, since he would be a current member again.

I'm sure the Republicans will shut it down because they are corrupt, but being a returning member could undermine the opposition based on him not being a current member right now.

Huh weird, this being the timeline that it is I kind of just expected them to double down

[–] [email protected] 52 points 2 days ago (2 children)

How many Scaramuccis was that?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Were in a new numerical realm now, the Gaetz, that count as negative Scaramuccis.

[–] [email protected] 75 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (3 children)

Scaramucci actually got the job, so it's probably negative Scaramucci's

He held the nomination for .8 Scaramuccis, and was fired 6.2 Scaramuccis before his earliest possible hire date.

Edit: Did Scaramucci math

Is it because he knew the Ethics report had been hacked?

[–] [email protected] 180 points 2 days ago (1 children)

not so quick, maybe you are running from something, we should look into that. We wouldnt wanna spend all that tax payer money on nothing.

[–] [email protected] 54 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Whack the mole now so it doesn't show up somewhere else.

Please don't nominate him for anything else. He resigned from Congress. This could be incredibly hilarious.

Edit: and if any Democrat on the ethics committee doesn't leak the report they should all be primaried and removed from their posts.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 2 days ago

He'll make a run for governor. DeSantis is term limited and his seat is up in two years.

[–] [email protected] 81 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Note that while he resigned from this current Congress, he did get reelected to the next Congress, so he'll still be a US rep in Florida once the session starts in late January. Just kind of an extended two month vacation really.

[–] [email protected] 95 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Maybe not, according to https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/11/21/us/trump-gaetz-news/5e296b83-bf2f-50cc-96b8-5049b764b8a9:

Absent extraordinary events, we do not expect to see Gaetz back in the House next Congress. When he submitted his resignation to the House last week after being tapped for attorney general, he wrote: “I do not intend to take the oath of office for the same office in the 119th Congress.”

It is always possible that Gaetz can invoke the ancient privilege of "SIKE!!!!" And take it all back. But then the ethics report will get released....

Wouldn't that mean the house investigation can be resumed? I don't think he wants that.

[–] [email protected] 28 points 2 days ago

It can be, but it won't be

he is scared of a moral report that would go public if he is part of the kabinet. so no he wont get any other positon, if he wants to try to lie the pedophelia away.
