I have a suspicion the House is holding it over his head to keep him from swearing in for the next congressional session. He won his election this year, so he could just simply re-jiin the House even though he resigned for this term.
He can pull out now. But he may have already come a little
too close to getting the job. Might have blown it.
The house could birth an investigation that spawns many problems.
Shouldn't have been so childish.

i wonder if he’s going to transition into being another annoying right wing pundit. he was always more of a talker than a doer in the house, and i can’t imagine him going back there because of the pending ethics report. maybe he’ll take pete hegseths place on fox news

If that happens, then they should release the report. At a bare minimum, he should never hold public office again.
Resigning from the 119th congress is essentially an admission of guilt at this point. Whatever is in that report will most likely remain sealed as long as he has the cover of being a private citizen once again, which is why he turned these two opportunities down - to keep the evidence of his wrongdoing under wraps so he can't be held accountable by either the public or the justice department.
So, Matt Gaetz is a pedophile and a child molester. And knowing the state of our shitty fucking country he's probably going to get away with it.
And trafficker. I thought the qanon wanted to "save the children"?

Weird. Either there's a 4D chess move here, or Trump doesn't have full control of the GOP like he wants.

Or Trump just named somebody he knew would have no chance and make the Left waste energy opposing him, so that they're more accepting of whomever he names for real.

Or Gaetz is hoping that no further details from the ethics report leak, and he can salvage his career after this blows over. If it ever does that is.
Or it's going to prevent some of the problems...

It's the second. Gaetz was way too inflammatory for the lesser evil tactic.
I don't think the GOP was honestly expecting him to win.

She got a hush appointment so she won't be talking about ethics reports anymore.
She never had any intention of releasing anything. She was trying to keep the Gaetz report from coming out.
