Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

TWO WEEKS! (lemmy.world)

Election day is two weeks from today, so if you're planning on voting, (and I hope you are!) here are some tools to help!

Make a Voting Plan

https://www.vote411.org/make-your-plan

Everything You Need to Vote

https://www.vote.org/

If you've already voted (I dropped off my ballot today!) consider volunteering in your community to help other people get it done!

Locally, we have ranked choice ballots for the first time and... well... it's a LOT. Like a LOT a lot.

You can even be a poll worker!

Don't let your dreams be dreams! DO IT!

I'm voting early as possible. I don't want to put up with any drama at the voter polls and I worry about punching a MAGA supporter if they're in my face.

I waited 30 mins in line yesterday to vote early and brought a first time voter with me. I plan on hauling more people on Thursday, including another first time voter who I peer pressured into voting by offering a free lunch.

If you live in a swing state, you're actively helping save the country. Thank you!

Sadly no, I’m in heavily gerrymandered Texas. I hope for the day when we swing purple.

I think Texas might be closer than people realize. Though I know better than to get optimistic.

I remember Beto also having a real chance. Then reality hit me in the face like a ton of bricks.

Every election is an independent event. The results of that election have no bearing on this.

The senate race is rather close in Texas, there's a real chance to oust cruz. If we're really lucky maybe flip blue for president too this cycle or be close enough that republicans have to pay attention and play defence next cycle

Your efforts might be key to clinch the Senate and give Cruz the boot.

God I hope so.

I refuse to vote in two weeks.. because I already voted and voting again would be illegal.

Vote early and vote often... but only as often as there are elections you are eligible for!

I'm taking the Wednesday after election day off.

I start my sabbatical 10 days after election day. ;)

When filling out my ranked choice ballot in my city, the top position for city council had 1 good candidate, 3 meh candidates, Tina from Costco, and a much of weird maga people that listed conspiracy shit in their voter guide pitches.

I had 5 slots, and I proudly put Tina from Costco in one of those slots over the magas. Tina’s chill.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

You can choose to not rank them at all right? Like you don't need to use all 5 slots? I'm hoping you left the maga people off completely, not just put them at the end...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 weeks ago

Yup! You can rank as few as you want!
