FBI Director Christopher Wray revealed during a marathon testimony on Wednesday that investigators still do not know if former President Donald Trump was grazed by a bullet or a piece of shrapnel during his attempted assassination.

Twice during the hours-long session, Wray told lawmakers that the FBI was still working to determine what exactly struck the former president on his right ear during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. “My understanding is that either it [a bullet] or some shrapnel is what grazed his ear,” Wray told Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-CA).

You know if this was a Democrat candidate, they’d have to launch 20 new Fox News channels to fit in all the conspiracy theories about how this was fake…why aren’t we treating them the same?

For someone as narcissistic as Trump, the fact there isn’t a 5 hour documentary and 600 media posts detailing his time in hospital, the state of his ear, T-shirts with his X-ray and MRi and ultrasound of his ear, and 3d print of the ear as a collectible wall mount etc is what is actually odd about the whole thing.

He’s making money off of two perfect once in a lifetime photo shots though.

I don't understand why this is news worthy. Like even if they prove it wasn't a bullet, what does this change?

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 month ago

Because he and many lazy outlets are reporting he was definitely shot or hit by a bullet.

This is newsworthy because it’s clarifying a misconception that is going around and is being amplified by the trump team because it makes him seem more “badass” and “hard to kill”.

You are right. It is a sensationalist headline that people will click on (or not click on and use to justify their existing view/conspiracy theory).

Aye, it doesn't really feel relevant. He was injured as a result of gunfire.

Omg they used secret high tech frozen poop projectiles to leave no trace.

Oh boy, please be a shrapnel. 🥹

If we didn't have a picture of a bullet in the air, I'd suspect he had a sharp object in his pocket so he could cut it himself when he grabbed his ear.

Considering how many appearances he made on WWF/WWE events, he’s well aware of how this works in the wrestling ring.

If the dementia hasn’t already dissolved that part of his brain anyway.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

I'd be willing to bet that's the only part of his brain left that's intact.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Not even that. We never saw the wound. Just ear with something that looked like it might be blood. If that was an act, he didn't need to cut himself at all.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

If it was an act, it was an incredibly callous one, considering three bystanders were shot, and one died.

Being incredibly callous is on-brand for him. But taking the risk, however small, that he himself would be wounded by accident (or by conspiracy) is against everything he has ever demonstrated.
