Is he paying to move the staff along with? Because Austin is almost as expensive as SF.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 3 months ago (3 children)

Can someone explain this to me. What does student policy have to do with space or online posts?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago

Absolutely nothing.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 3 months ago

It doesn't, Texas is probably better for taxes. He's just being a bigot to "own the libs" or whatever the real reason is.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Like most extremely outspoken people with a phobia like this. He's probably a closet wannabe trans.

Actually, the more I think about it, it kinda fits for him/her ...

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Even if he is closeted, you should still respect his pronouns. It's still bigotry when you do it, just like when any transphobe does it.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I agree that we should use people's preferred pronouns. I know it's difficult to use neopronouns but it's so seldom an issue let's just get on with life.

Elon has protested being identified as a cisgender male, and declared that 'prosecute/Fauci' should be used.

Prosecute has also mentioned that prosecute doesn't really like people making a big deal about pronouns so let's just move on.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Let's move on so you dont have to examine your behavior here or how it may harm the community you are supposedly standing up for

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Honestly I'd be happy to examine my behavior, because my support for the trans community is real. I don't think I'm on trial but if you want me to provide evidence I can.

I don't agree with the strategy of the previous poster which was to intentionally mislabel Elon. But I think it is appropriate to ironically adopt someone's insincerely adopted pronouns. That said, I'd be happy to read an explanation of why this is a bad strategy.

Cheers.

In general, I don't think it's "not transphobic" to use transphobic rhetoric. So that includes using fake pronouns including neopronouns and/or misgendering people.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I believe that if the people that maliciously adopt fake pronouns had to deal with people actually using the fake pronouns they would clarify and retract their transphobic fake pronouns.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

I don't believe that. I believe that simply contributes to the transphobia they are perpetuating. Have you ever spoken to someone like that and used this technique irl? It doesn't work, and they are happy they got you to join in agreement that pronouns are "nonsense" from their PoV

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 months ago

You know... that does kind of track. Back in the 2010's when the hot topic was gay rights, some of the most zealot anti-gay right wingers... were found to dabble in the very least. And this is some loud stuff that has no direct connection to him, so... yeah.

[–] [email protected] 35 points 3 months ago (2 children)

He is such a creep about trans people

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 months ago

While donating a shit ton of money monthly to a pedophile rapist.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 3 months ago (1 children)

one of his estranged kids is trans so it's personally motivated bigotry for him

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I know, also Grimes dating Chelsea Manning right after they broke up (I feel bad Chelsea Manning got involved in anyone this, she is too good for these people)

He's just so creepy and weird about it though.

Is he going to see his kid's genitals? No, right? So why does it matter? Why do the genitals of students matter to him?

Good. Tech workers are a scourge on cities.

- a tech worker

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 months ago

Living in Hawthorne myself (the place SpaceX is in now) I don't get the sense it's doing the city all that good. I think they get major tax breaks or something, since the area is pretty run down except for it's immediate area. It's fairly industrial / commercial but there's a closed down mall, boarded up shops, etc.

I hope this is a punch in the gut the fools running the city need to start dealing with it's real problems. :/

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

He's eventually going to move to Russia and try to take all the SpaceX Technology with him.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago

Export laws would prevent that. He could go to Russia first, but then all of his assets in the US would be frozen.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 3 months ago

I hope this move bleeds talent and destroys both companies. I mean, I get that X already probably lost everyone who could get a different job (making people on visas hostages) but this should empty out the last of those who have the ability to leave and haven't done so already.

"Oversexed oligarch with mental capabilities of a toddler on cocaine unwilling to admit to world how horrible of a businessman he is, grabs ball, runs away crying, blaming Trans community for his woes."

[–] [email protected] 40 points 3 months ago (1 children)

He should move back to South Africa, but I assume he doesn't like it that much anymore since they officially abolished apartheid

[–] [email protected] 18 points 3 months ago (2 children)

He'd probably do okay. It's still one of, if not the most unequal countries on the planet and it's far more corrupt than the U.S.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/3/10/south-africa-most-unequal-country-in-the-world-report

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago

But still he'd have to pretend to pay his slaves a living wage and that is just a huge dampener for economic development!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

He would have to stick to the cities that can eeliably keep electricity available.

Can’t imagine what I’d demand to be made to work in texas.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Imagine if federal agencies weren't allowed to work with businesses that have that kind of political stance... One can dream...

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago

Imagine if there weren't people wealthy enough to have their own private space programs...and yes, it would be better if oligarchs didn't have the flex to attempt to bend state or national policy to their will.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 months ago

At this point, NASA is kind of fucked if they don't have SpaceX to rely on.

I hate it.
