Does it really matter what google says
A large company with deep pockets, with the ability to influence politics, so yes, I'd say it does matter.
This is about public opinion, so it shouldn't matter what Google says & people should understand that all megacorp speech is propaganda for their (fairly short-term) profit. And that such statements basically shouldn't get the coverage they are getting (but still some is necessary to have the knowledge to understand other fuckery that megacorp will engage in to achieve it's goals).
