Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Brenda is a Sheep | BookTrust https://share.google/XtucQ4rjxZGver56x

basically the same

Wow! Thank you so much for this.
The story and style remind of the - by internet measures ancient - A Lesson is Learned but the Damage is Irreversible comics which I always thought would be very difficult to top.

I'm not sure if I understand the last installment. It seems like the exposed wolf was cast out, but The Elder took pity nonetheless because they are both outsiders. Or perhaps the other two wolves are content with their new identities, but the orange one still feels lost. It doesn't seem to end the series on an uplifting note anyway.

The yellow wolf spent so long being concerned he would be found out that the last panel is a moment of catharsis; that he has been accepted as a member of the community regardless of who he is or was. He observes his wolf friends who once denounced his behavior sharing the original wolf culture with the sheep. Likewise he can see the sheep partaking in the wolf culture freely, bringing to a close his earlier fears about being found out. The elephant recognizes this and confirms that yes everything is going to be alright he’s not imagining it. (At least that’s how I read it)

I wouldn't read it that way. The yellow one is the main character and that's why he gets the intimate moment with the elder who is the most respected sheep of the flock. We have enough scenes where the yellow one is integrated

I love it, but a lot of unanswered questions and a truce/understanding that seems tenuous at best.

C’mon, let’s go dance in the meadow

What/whom have the wolves been eating this whole time?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

Salmon. Don’t worry about it.

Nobody asks the really important question: Whose wool is it, they are wearing?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 20 hours ago

A lot of sheep need their wool sheared off in the summer to survive. They'll die of heat exhaustion if it isn't. That being said, it's entirely humanity's fault for selectively breeding those sheep and probably not the case for wild ones.

synthetic fleece, the real crime is all the microplastics they are producing

[–] [email protected] 0 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

I mean, all synthetic fleeces I ever had, where produced of 100 % recycled bottles. At least, Patagoni, Friluft et al claim that.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 18 hours ago

yhea, recycling plastic garbage into microplastics.

not sure if it's an improvement.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

Maybe they snipped some off of the sheeps every night and sewed it together. I'd be more concerned about the ears.
