We always hear about song lyrics that we deeply connect to on a personal level, but what about ones that are the opposite of your experiences and/or vibe? I'll start first:

"I got money in the bank."

"Turn the page" by Bob Seger. I love the song, but the dude is sad because hes touring the world with his band and getting laid...

edit: thinking about it, maybe everybody is someone elses Bob Seger...

Casual sex - my darkest days, or any other of their song. I am not, in fact, having any sex.

"I speak six languages I am sick and tired Of always being the best And the brightest at every mass"

25th Annual Putnam Country Spelling Bee

I'll never be burdened by lacking challenge. I'm not that smart is a very relatable song from the musical, though.

Pretty much everything from Duran-duran.

Don't get me wrong, I love 'em, but have you actually listened to the lyrics on their songs?

"Smell like I sound"? What the fuck Simon?

You Say. No To. Ratchet. Pussy. Juicy. J. Can't.

What the actual fuck.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago

It really comes down to defining ratchet.

Taxman by The Beatles. I’m not criticizing their music as a whole, but a song written by millionaires unironically whining about having to pay taxes is totally unrelatable to most of their fans.

Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don't take it all
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah I'm the taxman

Oh shut up.

Man, 5%? That's it?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 9 months ago

Anything regarding blossoming love and romance. Most of the time, it's so far off from my experience that the lyrics just make me envious and overall depressed with myself. This is 60% of popular music.
