One of our hormone drugs, spironolactone (spiro), is a diuretic so we're often salt deprived and craving salty foods. I'm not 100% sure why pickles specifically but I know with estrogen my sense of taste changed and now I get cravings for things that is sometimes strong enough to be a distraction until I eat that food. Pickles are a common craving during pregnancy as well and HRT floods our systems with similar hormones.

Send in your positive pregnancy test and get three for free. You got to hook your costumer base early on.

I know you were joking, but it’s actually not a terrible point and I updated the post :-)

Pickle brine doesn't actually freeze in a household freezer, so yeah this would just be cold pickle brine.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I wonder if the outside freezer can get cold enough to do this?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 months ago

If not, then the answer is simply to dilute the brine with a little distilled or purified water.

Not that tap water wouldn't work, but you're playing with straight flavor here, use something known to be truly neutral.

Anyway, different concentrations of salt and vinegar will change the freezing point. This talks about using brines and such on roads.

Apparently exposure to any oxygen will lower the freezing point of pickle brine as well. Which is why the molds in OP's picture are airtight.

Y'all seriously acting like these are shitty.

Pickle-pops are SUPER common in the south, at least in Texas. As well as just Big Pickles. Both are sold at nearly ever concession stand at outdoor events.

They're great in hot, swampy/humid environments.

Seriously. I'm from New York and I can confirm, pickles are life when you have to be out in the heat.

Calling this food "shitty" feels like transphobia.

It also feels anti-Florida, but that is a morally ok thing to be.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Because it’s transforming liquid to a frozen state?

Might’ve missed the joke otherwise.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

The joke is that Florida is awful.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Well at least somebody let me in on the secret!

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 months ago

The people the joke was made for got the joke, one feels.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Might be a better health benefit if you used it as an enema

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 months ago

considering its mostly vinegar, even the normal usage can provide the same result.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 months ago (2 children)

I’m a fan of pickle juice, I wouldn’t turn my nose up at these!

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I’ll straight up drink it out of the jar (not those gross sweet American pickles however).

But frozen sounds disgusting to me.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 months ago

I do the same thing and It's not. Because of the salt it doesn't completely freeze, so it's kinda like a pickle juice slushy. Great for after doing yard work or something hot and sweaty.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I had the same exact thought. The idea is unusual, but I think this might actually be good.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 months ago

It is, they actually sell them in stores now.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I'd eat it. I wish I had one right now.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Check your local grocery store. There are otter pops that are pickle juice instead of sugar water, and they're amazing.

Iirc they're usually near the sports drinks.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 months ago

That might actually be pretty good if you used bread and butter pickles!
