I have no idea how anyone can think that baby baskets for newborns is a bad thing.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 days ago (4 children)

I actually have no idea what that even means... Could you help me out with some context?

[–] [email protected] 35 points 2 days ago (3 children)

In Finland, parents of newborns receive a cardboard box that doubles as a tiny sleeping space. It's filled with essentials like diapers, a sleeping bag, small mattress, toiletries, etc.

It's like your new player gets basic gear at Level 1, minus the bronze sword and 10gp.

Why Finnish babies sleep in cardboard boxes

It's ok. They've trained their monkeys to hate objectively good things.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 days ago

Remember when Fox News called workers "dogs" that need to be starved to make us obedient? Never forget, never forgive

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago

Monkeys surpass magats in intellect

The right: Birth rates are declining!

The right when they see no cost child care brought up: Socialism bad!

[–] [email protected] 35 points 2 days ago (5 children)

I believe that this is part of the Christian dogmatic pipeline. If you require social services, check your closest church. And of course you will need to be a member in good standing to keep access... Etc

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

And usually praying at any evangelical church

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

"That should be the role of the church!" The church proceeds to not do what they said it should.

Hey man, after my local church finished paying off their pastors mortgage they used the last of the money to host a bake sale!

You people are ungrateful commies

It's also convenient that churches tend to be de facto segregated by race. We're not racist, we just setup institutions that happen to work in racist ways.

That’s it. That’s the campaign ad.

USD$30 is a pretty good minimum wage. That's almost twice as much as I made at my first full-time job.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Was it in New York and was it recently?

It may or may not compare, I guess. Hard to tell.

Edit: with inflation and location in mind

$30 minimum wage and two parent households might be able to raise their child themselves

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Anyone taking bets yet on how long it will be before he gets "disappeared"?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago

Or gets stringed along by the state at the behest of the billionaires, much like they did with Luigi, and gave trump so much leeway in his trials

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I am pretty sure whoever really Luigied Brian Thompson will Luigi any conspirators.

But in all seriousness, he needs a major security detail at all times, and he needs to be pragmatic about public appearances.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

Everyone knows hemesley and witty conspired against him. In reality UHC was actually be investigated for insider trading, and he would be a weak point that can bring them all down.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 days ago (2 children)

He won't. But an insane amount of money is going to be poured on a smearing campaign and support of an independent candidate, because to ultra-wealthy dems donors, better a Republican than a socialist.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There will be a billionaire-funded recall campaign

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 days ago

Or constant 24/7 news propaganda against him

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 days ago

Isn't that most of history? Liberals, "centrists", et al would rather side with fascists than give an inch to labor.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

I bet it won't happen, or at least not until 2030. A perpetual "this person won't vanish" is really difficult to say with confidence.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I love how "socialism" is a smear in a country that has "e pluribus unum" on its money. Unum, only up to a point, I guess.
