Sounds about right. In my later days I tried explaining my unique tastes to my religrous parents only because they eventually came over every day and my lifestlye was all over the house. They couldnt handle it and kept digging and finding reasons to shun me. They always did thtt, looking for things they cant handle. Then they start trying to convert me to a lame christian lifestyle again in my adulthood. Like they want a conservatorship when they invaded a life perfectly fine without them knowing.

Then they start trying to convert me to a lame christian lifestyle again in my adulthood.

My parents gave that up decades ago when every single time they brought up religion, I would tire them out with questions they could never answer. I think they realized that they were accomplishing nothing, and maybe even hurting their own faith in the process lol

You were fucked from the beginning, repression maybe made him bounce back even harder though

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

At least it wasn't sergeant major discipline. Imagine the horror

[–] [email protected] 28 points 4 days ago

Hopeless from the beginning. Conservatives can’t keep you from being who you’re supposed to be, only delay it.

The pic is from Bofuri.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Probably a bit of both, anon

But in reality it's not fucked up, it's just who you are and what you like, though again your tight ass upbringing may have given you some ideas

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago

The tight ass upbringing is probably half the equation for his white 'friend.'

No anon, you became who you were meant to be in spite of your parents. You just be careful about it, ok?

Is what I would say if op was anon, but op isn't anon so obviously the whole thing is fake and gay (which I'd like to remind everyone is not a bad thing).

[–] [email protected] 8 points 4 days ago (3 children)

Why does it feel like youre saying "fake and gay" like you're trying to blend in, like some weird 4chan skinwalker?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago

(oh shit, they're on to me)

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 days ago

Dear Lord, it's the fake gaywalker!

[–] [email protected] 17 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Because this is the greentext sub and that is what people do here.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Yeah, we're literally not on 4chan. For good reason.

It's like a plantation. You enjoy the fruits of their labor, but hanging out there is not for most.

The mountainous burden of irony is truly something to behold. It's like watching that strong dude from Baron Von Munchausen

[–] [email protected] 59 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Not hopeless, just overcompensating from the freedom.

OP needs to strongly consider whether he:

  1. actually likes doing those things, or
  2. is just entranced/aroused by being able to do things that would be otherwise forbidden by his family and culture.

Either is OK, but when being the source of that behaviour, the former is a lot more healthy than the latter.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 days ago (2 children)

But point #1 and #2 are the same.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Yes, but in many to most cases, no.

People from suppressed cultures/families who suddenly experience freedom have a tendency to go after anything that spits in the face of their former repression, purely for that freedom. As in, they are motivated by the freedom to choose, and not by whether or not they actually like the act in question.

Which is why the former is much more psychologically healthier. It rarely generates regret, whereas the latter has the potential to generate regret once they “get [it] worked out of their system” and realize that they don’t like the act itself - and may actually hate it or how it’s changed them - and have only been attracted to their ability to choose it or its ability to be offensive in the context of their prior repression.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 5 days ago

they can be

[–] [email protected] 57 points 5 days ago (2 children)
[–] [email protected] 14 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Could be transfem, might be straight, which might be even gayer tbh

[–] [email protected] 8 points 5 days ago

Nah would have been mentioned if he was anything other than gay.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 5 days ago

Fake, claims he isn't a neet. Gay, fantasizes about this green text daily.

Is the reputation of catholics for sexual repression actually true or just a meme

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

My Catholic friend had most pleasure removed from sex. He doesn't see it as filthy or sinful, but is very nervous by the prospect of disease and pregnancy. He still enjoys having sex because his partners have loved it, and he likes making them happy.

It's more of a game of how quickly/often he can make them climax. For him it is just kind of boring and getting in the way of sleeping/cuddling which he finds much more pleasant.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Its definitely true and there's a lot of correlation between sexual assault/misconduct and repression though doing science here is obviously really hard so all I can share is some personal anecdotes.

I see a lot of sex tourists here in Thailand (and Vietnam where I lived previously) from repressed countries like middle east region and India and its scary how badly these people are behaving to the point where they are banned from many sex avenues. I had a fried who basically was a Islam virgin and a complete sexual retard and obviously very promiscuous when detached from that until he managed to grow up in a year or two.

Religious sexual repression is scary. My pet theory is that middle east problems would be solved if every dude was just handed a pocket pussy when they turn 16 lol

I know my comment isn't directly about catholicism but its the same thing no matter which religion is enforcing the repression.

How will that solve being invaded and meddled with for oil and trade routes?

Or 2000 years ago, being invaded and meddled with for frankincense and trade routes?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Because it takes a special psychological state for people to contribute to these actions. Sexual repression highly contributes to creating such mental states.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

I don't think the Greek and Roman pagans were known for sexual repression and yet they engaged in wars and conquests, including of the Middle East and Arabia. Neither were the Arab pagans they conquered and invaded. It has always been about resources and access to them.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Ugh your strawman is 2,000 years old!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

So what you claim is that people resist invasions only because they are sexually repressed? Is that what’s happening in Ukraine?

Somehow you are capable of understanding fighting back against invaders when it is the Ukrainians but not when it is Arabs or Afghans. I wonder why?

Some people are victims of their geography, that’s it.

PS: it is called proof by contradiction, not a strawperson.

PSS: nothing changed in 2000 years, just replace Rome with the USA and frankincense with oil

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

What are you even talking about. You're so far off topic you might as well just go take a nap bro

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

2000 years ago would've been the Romans, Christianity much less Catholicism simply didn't exist at that time. And I think Morocco conquered Andalusia before the crusades. By like 400 years.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 5 days ago

I think, as with most things, it's a continuum. On one end, they are pretty chill and at the other end are the extremists that are convinced exposed shoulders will instantly corrupt anyone with a penis.
