Nah bro, gold everywhere is trashy regardless. Gaudy is the opposite of tasteful

Edit: fixed autocorrect (that -> trashy)

How are drugs NOT everyone's first answer?

Exhibit A: Elon Musk

Elon Musk is a great example of being trash(y) despite being rich though. Including the drug abuse.

Now he is a perfect example of being trashy, but that is precisely what makes him the best example because the public perception used to be VERY much that Musk was "classy", Musk was a genius, a super smart engineer and businessman, somebody that could be seen as an expert on almost anything and can point to their extensive resume to back up their boisterous persona.

Look to someone like Bill Gates or insert other billionaire here and think about how you might bristle if I insulted him that way, and think about how the only real difference between the two is how effective their PR handlers are and how much they listen to them.

I mean... I've got no major love for Gates, but a dozen kids from as many mothers and a public ket habit say otherwise. Gates is a businessman and conducts himself like one, i.e. professionally. Musk is an unloved child and conducts himself like one.

Say what you want about Gates being a billionaire or how he was a ruthless and unempathetic businessman in the 90s, but you would never find him firing the entire customer support team at his business and setting it to auto-reply to all incoming communications with the poop emoji. You wouldn't find him publicly lambasting his daughter on social media about her gender preference. You wouldn't find him throwing Sieg Heils at a pep rally. PR team or not, these are not things that Bill Gates does. PR team or not, these are all things that nobody was able to prevent Elon Musk from doing.

I like Bill Gates an awful lot more than I like Elon Musk and I kind of don't like Bill Gates. But he is interested in presenting and maintaining decorum. These men are not the same.

Almost literally anything called classy, "classy" is a way of saying "something a rich person does". It's got additional meaning beyond that, but to say something is "classy" is at the very least to say "it is something the upper classes do".

They even have special places for the ultra-wealthy to gamble respectably. They're given a twee name. Something like "stock market" or the like...?

"Gambling problem? Oh no no, I'm a Venture Capitalist. I'm a productive member of society. My cousin Ernie is the gambler in the family. Maybe one day he'll pull himself up by his bootstraps, cuz I sure ain't gonna give him any handouts"

I was gonna say illegal drug use but yeah, there are lots of TV shows where rich people are like, "Welp, we're indoors, time to pour drinks."
