I cannot stress how bad an idea this golden dome project is....

Do it at least I know it's a security theater

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Oh please, let him. I'd love to see that one play out

Okay okay, this first version didn't launch any missiles and we lost new York to a huge mushroom cloud, but this next version will fix that, I promise!

It follows an executive order from Trump on January 27, in which he described a missile attack as the “most catastrophic threat facing the United States."

I can think of a worse one

At this point I'd be genuinely surprised if Elon Musk could successfully build a Lego set.

If we use the 'cybertruck' as a metric... the answer is FUCK NO!

Sorry.

Anything capable of taking down any ICBMs in flight could probably also be used as an offensive weapon.

Hey, Fermi, is this your filter?

I really can’t wait till he’s dead. That fucking face is so goddamn annoying.

I’m starting to just root for these depraved motherfuckers to burn this fucked up joke of a nation to the ground. At some point, a person can no longer feel invested in the clown show that is the American populace. It’s like those goddamn Pandas that are endangered but just refuse to breed and save their species. Americans have everything at their disposal and they just don’t care. Fuck us, we deserve the consequences for our own stupidity. Just go ahead and give all your money to these rich assholes. Just go ahead and burn your own children in their wars. Enjoy your plastic $100k cars and the untreated cancer your boss man won’t pay to treat. This is your fault, and mine too.

Welfare Queen!

[–] [email protected] 28 points 1 week ago (5 children)

estimates by the independent Congressional Budget Office, which has estimated the project could take 20 years and cost $524 billion.

that's how much.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

its only like what, 524bn, out of 800+billion of the defense budget just for 1 year.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

And that's just an estimate. You know that there will be massive cost overruns.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 week ago

Musk couldn't build a successful golden shower without government subsidies, that's for damn sure.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 week ago

Trying to suck on the welfare teat for 20 years.

Unpopular opinion, but some sort of anti-ICBM satellite network would be a fantastic thing for the world… as long as it’s jointly operated by a coalition of nations. It’s a problem when schoolyard bully USA is the only one who can repel a nuclear counterstrike.

ion cannon network, that was the premise of cnc3 games.
